Get Your First Look at the Darkly Comedic History of The “BlackBerry”

Before the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy or whatever high powered smartphone you’re currently using, there was a device known as the BlackBerry, which some Gen-Z folks, unsurprisingly, might not know of. It was the dominant mobile device of elites all around the world, then, with the arrival of the iPhone, virtually became extinct.

The story behind BlackBerry’s ascent and crash is such a fascinating, almost unbelievable one (as is the case with many a tech giant that came crumbling down) following the device’s originators, Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie, that Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton play them in a Wolf-of-Wall-Street-esque dark comedy. Matt Johnson and Matthew Miller adapted Jacquie McNish and Sean Silcoff’s book Losing the Signal: The Untold Story Behind the Extraordinary Rise and Spectacular Fall of BlackBerry into a film that got a good deal of festival heat.

So, when it comes to the question of what ever happened to the BlackBerry (or what Howerton looks like bald and Baruchel looks like with grey hair), you might find the most entertaining answer, from the looks of the trailer, with this upcoming BlackBerry movie .

If you’re on board, look for BlackBerry in theaters on May 12th thanks to IFC Films.

Though A.P. Bio has gotten the ax (for now), it still can strive to get some revenge on NBC by living well and snagging some awards in the upcoming awards season.

As this is the case, a conversation “with the cast and executive producers of A.P. Bio, including Mike O’Brien (Executive Producer), Patton Oswalt, Glenn Howerton, Lyric Lewis, Mary Sohn, Jean Villepique, and Paula Pell*.” ought to be pretty damn fascinating as well as a fun deep dive into what makes this show special (and why it should be saved).

Don’t miss out on exactly that at FYC at UCB @ UCB Sunset next week. Tickets are $12 and you can (and should) snag ‘em here.

We’re glad that Mike O’Brien will have another show on the air and that it’ll involve Glenn Howerton scheming high achieving students.

Does that mean The D.E.N.N.I.S. System from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia find its way into an actual classroom?

OK, Charlie, Mac, Dennis, Dee, and Frank are probably a little more extreme than their fans, but that’s why the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia loyal love them so much.

Certainly, there’s a similarity in the types of tattoos that the cast and fans of the show get, but, true to form, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, and Rob McElhenney go a little further than their fans.

Watch them show off while on Conan here.

Bob Odenkirk & Glenn Howerton Join FX’s ‘Fargo’

So, Colin Hanks, Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thorton, Kate Walsh, Oliver Platt, and now, Bob Odenkirk and Glenn Howerton will be part of the TV adaptation of Fargo at FX.

For the sake of all of us, this needs to go to air ASAP (or whenever the Coen Brothers think it’s good enough).

Following Funny or Die and their ‘iSteve’, Internet comedy giant College Humor is releasing their first feature length effort in ’Coffee Town’ with a more than solid cast in Glenn Howerton, Steve Little, and Ben Schwartz and has a bit of ‘Slackers’ vibe to it. We’re very interested to see if Internet comedy making feature length projects will become a trend very soon.
