Jimmy Kimmel Live Was All in Honor of Fred Willard Last Night

The passing of Fred Willard happened only a few days ago and his absence is still reverberating through the millions and millions of people he brought joy and laughter to.

Certainly, Jimmy Kimmel felt the loss deeply as Willard was a dear friend and a very, very frequent bit player on Jimmy Kimmel Live. So, last night, Kimmel dedicated the entire episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live to the memory of comedy legend Fred Willard.  Kimmel himself personally honored him by recounting some of his favorite memories in working with Fred as well as running down a plethora of characters that he has played for Jimmy over the years.

Watch, reminisce, enjoy (and maybe get a little teary eyed) here.

R.I.P. Fred Willard, 1933-2020

Earlier today, comedy legend (truly, a comedy legend label that’s well earned) Fred Willard passed away earlier today at the age of 86.

Best in Show, This Is Spinal Tap, Anchorman, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, The Carol Burnett Show, SNL, The Tonight Show, and Tim & Eric’s Awesome Show, Great Job! are just scratching the surface of Willard’s very long, storied career. Fred Willard has spanned the decades, the genres, the types of comedy and not only maintained his own style of comedy, but always delivered in whatever role he’s playing. In fact, he often has the best moments of an entire movie or episode even though he may not be in the lead role (just see any of the above movies/shows).

Please spend tonight going down a YouTube rabbit hole and binge watching all of his work.

Arguably, the father of mockumentaries, Christopher Guest, has his latest film coming very soon to Netflix.

After covering the worlds of hair metal, dog shows, folk music, and more, Guest points his focus towards the world of mascots with his usual suspects of Fred Willard, Jennifer Coolidge, and Parker Posey as well as the delightful Zach Woods, Bob Balaban, Sarah Baker, Christopher O’Dowd, Jane Lynch, Ed Begley Jr., and more.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise, but this is one of the funniest trailers we’ve seen in awhile.

Look for Mascots to start streaming on October 13th on Netflix.

Fred Willard To Co-Star In Amy Poehler’s NBC Comedy Pilot ‘Old Soul’

This news means Natasha Lyonne, Rita Moreno, Nick Thune, and now Fred Willard will now be starring in a pilot produced by Amy Poehler and directed by David Wain.

Sounds pretty grand, right?

We hope that we get to see this relatively soon whether it gets a series order, which we sincerely are hoping for, or not.
