Gareth Reynolds, co-host of The Dollop, is the esteemed guest for this week’s Comedy Bureau Field Report. Getting ready to observe curfew here in LA on the date of of this recording, Mon. Jun. 1st, Gareth and TCB’s Jake Kroeger get into the state of things and the state of comedy, even questioning what’s the point of comedy right at this historical moment (and how to even go about doing it). It’s a “very special episode” in a universe of “very special episodes”.

Follow Gareth Reynolds @reynoldsgareth across platforms, listen to The Dollop, watch Ga’riffs on IG Live @reynoldsgareth at 6PM PT, and also listen to Point vs. Point.

The reverberations of Hannah Gadsby‘s last special Nanette can still be felt years after its release on Netflix. Even as the release of her next special Douglas is just a few weeks away, Gadsby herself is still surprised the profound impact that her groundbreaking lightning rod of a special had, the worldwide notoriety that came along with it.

Thus, this next hour is absolutely one of the most highly anticipated comedy specials of this year. From this first, full official trailer, we have a suspicion that it will deliver (especially after the final joke in said trailer).

Look for Hannah Gadsby: Douglas is set to stream on Tues. May 26th on Netflix.

The last special that Hannah Gadsby released, Nanette, was such a lightning rod of a comedy special that will forever live on as a landmark piece of culture from our time. Its agenda and execution were so powerful that it sparked a discussion about comedy for months and months as well as furthering the global conversation about sexual assault/harassment sparked from #MeToo.

So, her next special Douglas is due out on Netflix on Tues., May 26th and if you can imagine how much the world’s attention turned to Gadsby the first time when she got catapulted from being renowned in Australia to international acclaim, you can surely imagine how highly anticipated this next hour of stand-up will be.

I’m pretty excited to announce that my new special "Douglas" will be streaming on @netflixisajoke starting May 26. Be sure to mark it in your socially-distant calendars…then wash your hands. pic.twitter.com/qxYRAkwV7t

As her next special is coming soon, Hannah Gadsby is starting to hit the publicity trail, making the rounds at late night.

This stop at Colbert is particularly fun as there seems to be some genuine, well-handled confusion between Gadsby and Colbert and Hannah reveals the pet rocks that she’d like Anti-Vaxxers to have instead of kids that they won’t vaccinate.

Enjoy the whole interview here.
