Part of the genius of David Rees doing so-called an “analog social media tour” for his show Going Deep is the digital video he’s uploading of him going out, posting flyers, and meeting all sorts of lovely people.

Technically, he’s flyering the whole Internet while actually going out and doing old school flyering.

“Going Deep with David Rees” Is Back for Its 2nd Season on The Esquire Network

Possibly one of the most entertaining educational series ever is Going Deep with David Rees. Originally on Nat Geo, it has now relocated to the Esquire Network for a second season that premieres on Nov. 11th at 10PM.

Here’s a trailer that promises more of Rees’ great, unconventional angle on learning about stuff.

To get the word out, Rees has opted to go “analog” (i.e. old school) with his social media promotion is going across the country posting flyers. Although, it would seem he’ll be documenting the whole thing and then putting videos up on YouTube as well as encouraging people to download the flyer and post it around their town. That’s why it’s called the Rolling Deep Analog Social Media Tour.

All this has the makings of another fantastic season as far as we can tell, which is why we’ll remind you to get find Esquire on your TV and tune in on Nov. 11th.

Going Deep with David Rees might just have been the pinnacle of double over laughing and learning something about everyday minutia that we took for granted.

Having its first season on the National Geographic Channel, some of you might not have been able to share in simultaneous laughing and marveling. However, Hulu has now the whole first season online for you to enjoy, learn, and guffaw until it hurts.

His book How to Sharpen Pencils: A Practical & Theoretical Treatise on the Artisanal Craft of Pencil Sharpening for Writers, Artists, Contractors, Flange Turners, Anglesmiths, & Civil Servants has reminded us of the importance of a sharp No. 2 pencil as well as the hilarious things in life that we often overlook.

Luckily, How To Sharpen Pencils has been made into a short mini doc that is both actually informative as well as damn funny and has been making the rounds at film festivals.
