Please Enjoy Alex Kavutskiy’s Award Winning Dark Comedy Short “Squirrel”

Since we’ve first caught wind of Alex Kavutskiy years ago at Channel 101, we were blown away at his cinematic prowess, especially when it comes to nailing dark comedy so exquisitely.

All these years later, Alex is still perfecting his gallows humor touch and it’s so damn good as we just saw with his latest short film Squirrel, which just happens to be making quite the rounds on the festival circuit (and is a Vimeo Staff Pick). We’d also like to note how pitch perfect both Andrea Rosen and Max Jenkins are in this, drawing out every bit of tension possible with their performances.

So, please enjoy Squirrel here.

Alex Kavutskiy and Ariel Gardner, one of favorite filmmaking teams in comedy, have just released their latest short film, Sound Speeds.

It shines a light on one of Tinseltown’s unsung heroes, the sound mixer, and then shows how weird one of those guys can be all in gorgeous black and white.

Watch it here.

Alex & Ariel’s First Feature “On The Rocks” Is a Great Whirlwind of Murphy’s Law

Alex Kavutskiy and Ariel Gardner, sometimes known as Alex & Ariel, have made an impressive showing as filmmakers over the years with their off-beat dark comedy short films like Judy and short form series like Kill The Baby.

Now, they’ve confidently stepped into both feature length film arena with On The Rocks. They follow a marriage live up to the film’s title to the nth degree as husband and wife, played by Chase Fein and Nichole Bagby, really do go through everything going wrong that can possibly go wrong. We should add that they’re both far from being without fault.

The pace, accented by a Birdman-esque jazz score, is relentless which adds to the fun, chaotic tailspin that the audience is taken on.

Get a taste of all of that with this trailer.

On The Rocks is now available on iTunes $9.99 and is yet another milestone for what we feel will be a storied career of Alex & Ariel.

This latest batch of Channel 101 is as hysterically dark as it’s even been and we’re loving it.

Paul Isakson’s meta first person vlog King of YouTube and Alex Kavutskiy and Ariel Gardner’s Kill The Baby finished at the top in the round of Channel 101, which, we think, show the rest of TV how to really blend horror and comedy.

Also, check out the other top series from this month delightfully titled Caveman Hate Technology, Stupid Bitch, and Natasha.
