Over the last year, the Little Modern Theater has been home to some fun, homegrown LA comedy as great space to perform and watch. Now, it needs your help ($35K over the next month) to make it even more of a great space to make shows free for both performers and audience members.

Also, this video for their donation campaign with David Janove, the man running the Little Modern, is adorable. (note: probably the first time we’ve used adorable on this website)

Tig Notaro did panel interview last night on Conan and they went right into all the tragedy that has come her way in an incredibly short amount of time including the stage 2 breast cancer she was diagnosed with (thankfully, she is doing well now). Still, Tig made the situation hilarious as she and very few people only can.

Luckily, the famed set at Largo where she revealed had cancer right at top will be released through LouisCK.net as Tig Notaro Live (the verb not the adjective).

When college football players are announced right before the game on TV, their names can get a little ridiculous just like this Key & Peele sketch. Though, the sketch just gets absolutely ridiculous. Key & Peele returns next week Sept. 26th 10:30PM. 

In conjunction of promotion of a new app, Just Sayin’, from Ricky Gervais, you could win a 3 min. stand-up set on Conan.

There is now a way to have people “tip” your web videos or, as your parents might call them, “comedy skits” on Vimeo. Their new set of creator services at Vimeo have really stepped up the power of posting content online, though, we’re not entirely sure where this will go or how big this will get.

We’re guessing people will have to get rid of the notion of 15% if any content creators want to make any money.

2 months ago, we came across a rumor that Bill Murray was going across the U.S. crashing parties wherever they may be so long as they had alcohol and karaoke. We thought it might be a hoax. Yet, if there’s one famous comedian up for public novelty, it’s Bill Murray, so we just put out there, in the ether, thinking it might just happen in real life if he saw it. There was a number to call which just lead to a voicemail from the Westboro Baptist Church, which was a let down…

BUT…

last night according to accounts of several LA based comedians, he celebrated his birthday at All Star Lanes in Eagle Rock, CA where comedian Brandie Posey just happens to host karaoke. Incidentally (or not so incidentally) she and a few in the comics in attendance were fully in support of making LA a stop on Murray’s party crashing tour when we posted the story. While at All Star Lanes, Murray requested that no pictures be taken of him, but Posey and several others corroborated the story on Twitter, absolutely claiming it’s not a bit.

With that all being said, we’re still not convinced that The Secret works.

Though it’s broadcast just in the UK, Set List: The Improvised Stand Up Show, started here in LA, is back to do tapings to bring even more American flavor to the show to be seen across the pond. What type of American flavor? How about Paul F. Tompkins, Maria Bamford, Hannibal Buress, Greg Proops, Jon Dore, Kumail Nanjiani, Fred Willard, and Gilbert Gottfried? That sounds pretty fantastic to us.

Tapings happen this week on Tues. Sept. 25th, Thurs. Sept. 27th, and Sat. Sept. 29th with a 7:30PM and 9:30PM taping on each day at Vanguard Hollywood. RSVP now.

Last night, this year’s primetime Emmys were presented and we’re pretty OK with nearly everything that won. Louis C.K. won two Emmys, The Daily Show won one, and Modern Family is still cleaning up network tv awards as expected and we can definitely dig that. When announced that The Daily Show won for Outstanding Variety Series for this year’s Primetime Emmys, Jon Stewart and company made their way to the stage, but not without some of the other nominees clawing it out to the very end. Specifically, we love how this bit continues despite the telecast’s narrator pushing through their nominee notes.

Though a musical guest talk show with a blue monster that looks like it came from Big Trouble in Little China as the host by way of just eating the crew on the previous show might sound like a crazy idea, it makes total sense when TJ Miller is the voice behind said blue monster. The Gorburger Show is a new series on The Warner Sound w/Funny or Die where Gorburger/Miller interviews recording artists and the first two episodes just dropped with Tegan & Sara and Mariachi El Bronx.

We wonder if there will be a Gorburger/Mash-Up crossover where Gorburger wears a suit and tells jokes?

The famous Humblebrag Twitter account has gone into physical print with Harris Wittels curating some of the most faux humility ever tweeted into a book, Humblebrag: The Art of False Modesty. A promo for it is on Funny or Die right now with some of the cast of Parks and Recreation with great examples of humblebrags if any of you are unfamiliar. 

“Please Be Seated” the musical comedy album from Myq Kaplan and Micah Sherman was just released today and better than a description of the cleverness and silliness of the music, watch their music video for Bop 25, Myq and Micah’s try at making a radio hit that is catchy and repetitive without too much message behind the lyrics (well, not too much).
