You can even vote for your favorite LA based podcast, web series, or YouTube star, of which there are plenty that are featured right here at the Comedy Bureau for your reference.

You’ve might have heard of a live show called Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction created and produced by Bryan Cook out of Seattle. Though the content itself is pretty lurid, the hilarity of the stories written before and during the show have made it so you don’t feel like you’ve violated a moral code by doubling over in laughter.

Just read the following two Competitive Erotic Fan Fiction Stories (that we saw live and were hysterical) as an example:

We know that you’re going to buy James Adomian’s debut album Low Hangin Fruit available from Earwolf here on Mon. Aug. 13th because he is one of the funniest people on the planet and we happen to be at a few of the tapings where it was a flood of applause breaks, but we just wanted to remind you of the date.

Kurt Metzger and Joe Derosa are really funny even in just talking about random topics, which is why Overrated, their new series on YouTube’s Official Comedy, is the perfect platform to rant on anything like they do with their first episode on worst performances by rappers in movies.

Both Splitsider and Jay Mohr made the burgeoning world of comedy podcasting even more burgeoning-y by bringing together a handful of podcasts into a their own respective networks. The Splitsider Podcast Network and FakeMustache.com just launched today and already have deservingly popular podcasts within their families including Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer’s You Had To Be There (Splitsider) and Talkin’ Shit with Jim and Eddie (FakeMustache.com).

With this news, we wonder if podcast networks will get big enough to have a Development Department?

We know that ‘Double Galifianakis Day’ isn’t a real thing, but wouldn’t it be great if it was?

Get a preview of how awesome that would be with Zach Galifianakis and his current partner in crime/Campaign co-star Will Ferrell debating school children/the system on Funny or Die and part 2 of his chat with Paul F. Tompkins on Speakeasy.

First off, if you’ve never heard of Glenn Wool, first off, we’re sorry that we couldn’t call you up and tell you about how wonderful a comedian he is. Touring the world as a comedic nomad, Wool is a one-of-a-kind experience that takes you soaring through his material that’s relatable enough for a bar crowd in Alaska (this latest recording took place at Chilkoot Charlie’s) and more than enough layers and cleverness and daring (has one of the best religion jokes we’ve heard in a while) for the comedy nerd to savor and, even more importantly, a performance rousing to the point where it’s a joy to hear Wool’s voice that’s a mix between laid-back Canadian and dramatic Shakespearean actor and a punk rock roar.

You can, and definitely should, hear all of that put on display on Wool’s latest album I’ll Ask Her, just released today, from Stand Up Records.

Pitchfork’s +1 web series delves into a bit of comedy when chatting with Hannibal Buress in Brooklyn near his show at the Knitting Factory. Seeing Buress in his element at his show is great as he shares the stage with Eric Andre of whose show he co-hosts, a story about taking ecstasy at a SNL party, as well as telling some guy off walking by who has no idea who Hannibal is.

We’re so happy to hear the premiere of both Brody Stevens and Garfunkel and Oates have shows at HBO, even though you’ll need HBOGO to watch them. Brody Stevens: Enjoy It and Garfunkel and Oates have several episodes up of their first seasons, so, if you’re lucky enough to have HBO and subsequently HBOGO (the way to watch HBO online) or have a friend that does, bask in the hilarity that you exclusively get to watch.

Web series Modern Comedian from Scott Moran has another great episode featuring Lynn Shawcroft sharing stories and what it was like living with Mitch Hedberg and his daydreaming. There’s also a great detailed look into Mitch’s writing process and his notebooks, from which we have concluded, should make for an entirely new Mitch Hedberg font.

Nature Break, a series on one of YouTube’s top channels Shut Up! Cartoons, continues to kill it with this latest episode featuring, as you might have heard us say before, some of the funniest people that everyone should know including Katie Crown, Lizzy Cooperman, Susan Burke, Emily Maya Mills, Johnny Pemberton, and more. Also, talking animals in situations completely devoid of them being animals is pretty damn funny.

Following the taping of the Roseanne Roast to be aired on Comedy Central next week, it was discovered that a joke that Jeff Ross told referencing the Aurora shootings will currently be cut from the TV edit.

“Seth [Green], you haven’t gotten this much attention since you shot all those people in Aurora. You’re actually not like James Holmes. He was doing things in a theater that people remember." 

It’s unfortunate and the joke, unlike the one Dane Cook came under fire for, is a much more defensible with the way it’s structured, not to mention that Ross has much more experience with humor that dwells in the realm of being offensive.

Though, not to fret as Ross has plenty of other projects coming up that will make up for the Ross that was cut from the Roast. His Comedy Central series, The Burn, both taping in Hollywood (free tickets still available) is set to premiere Aug. 14th 10:30PM. Also, his special to come out called Jeff Ross Roasts America where he literally tours across America roasting willing participants town by town, will air on Comedy Central Sat. Aug. 11th 11PM, then available for purchase Aug. 14th.

We don’t know who was asking for a web series parody of what the Beatles and Monkees were doing decades ago, not to mention with only 2 band members and an unscrupulous manager, with the hilarity of comedians Julian McCullough, Sean O’Connor, and Nick Turner on the Warner Sound YouTube channel.

Thank goodness they did, because Beach Dudes is absurdly and anachronistically hilarious.

As promised, Dave Hill has done his title of “world class athlete” proud in his coverage of the London 2012 Olympics for BBC America. His olympic level athletic skill dazzled the few people watching in several events without actually participating in anything that’s sanctioned by the IOC.

After releasing it through his own site, Jim Gaffigan will now release his latest special Mr. Universe as a CD through Comedy Central on Aug. 28th. What this means for the great experiment with comedians producing and releasing their own specials is unclear as you can still get the full video special on his site. 

Hopefully, it doesn’t mean much and more self-made specials will continued to be made.

Forget what you think you know with comedy at its fringes (unless, of course, you’ve already acquainted with pop culture mash-up aggregate Everything Is Terrible) with the arrival of The 3rd Annual Everything Is Festival at Cinefamiliy. Found footage, 90’s nostalgia, Star Wars fan video art re-cut and smashed up as an entire re-imagined Star Wars, Joel Hodgson creator of MST3K, Nick Offerman, Doug Benson Movie Interruption, Off the Air with Dave Hughes, and way way more are under the acid trip of an umbrella at the Everything is Festival, running from Aug. 18th-Aug. 28th. 

It might all seem a little weird, but it will be, with everything that’s going on here, only the good kind of weird. Tickets available now.
