Welcome to TCB 3.0

TCB 3.0 has been so long in the works (since sometime last year-honestly, it has been so long that we forget when we embarked on this journey with our web designer Andrew Delman and some gracious guidance from Derek Meklir). Anyhow, finding anything and everything you wanted to know about LA comedy has just gotten a huge upgrade (even as we have just “soft” launched) and we wanted to give you a quick tour of what you can do with the new and improved Comedy Bureau, outside of our spiffy new look.

So, a huge part of this redesign is the integration of maps (and not only to just have nice neat pins on a map, but have a very detailed and powerful functionality to it). As you can see here on the home page, you can search the name of a comedian/group/troupe you love or just discovered and any show that they’re on listed at TCB will come up. Anything that’s fit to print in a show description can be searched.

Pretty cool, huh? We’re just getting started.

We got even more handy with a whole row of filters that allow you to pretty much be as specific as you could possibly be with search for open mics and shows in and around LA that we have painstakingly curated by hand. You can search for free mics, stand-up shows (or sketch, improv, experimental comedy, clowning, podcasts, screenings, etc.) in Los Feliz, or shows at The Comedy Store on a certain date and you can even search with all of these filters combined.

Truly, you can get as niche or broad as you want in looking for live comedy in and around LA instead of just having to know everything ahead of time like we do.

If you’re a fan of endless scrolling, there are monthly calendars in their own separate column to the right (on desktop only for now) that allow you to scroll every mic and show listed at TCB as well as by clicking on specific dates on the calendar.

This might be a news flash to some of you, but we do more than just give the best listings for comedy in LA. We cover what we see as “fit to print” for LA comedy and it’s much easier to see that we do that now. Also, there’s a definitive, clear way to contact us (our e-mail is and always has been thecomedybureau@gmail.com by the way, but you can use the contact form if you’d prefer). Also, given our vast knowledge, set of connections, and reputation, we’re for hire to consult for any of your comedy expertise needs.

We have also assembled a hefty database of every comedy dedicated venue in town to give you a better sense of the lay of the vast LA Comedy Scene.

This was a massive undertaking and required a lot of blood, sweat, and tears from everyone that worked on it (the majority of which was Jake Kroeger and Andrew Delman). We will need your support to keep the lights on and be the way to find your home in comedy in and around LA, especially since they are so damn fancy now.

We have no doubt that we’ll be improving even more down the line, but we’re excited to make finding/doing/knowing about LA comedy and feeling like you’re a part of it more accessible and easier than ever with TCB 3.0.
