This week, amongst so many, will very likely prove how much we all need therapy right now.

So, that’s the perfect time for another virtual edition of Dr. Katz LIVE.

The famed animated therapist (who has done live, non-animated performances over the last few years), Dr. Jonathan Katz, will be holding another round of sessions with the likes of Dave Attell, Maria Bamford, Jim Gaffigan, Dom Irrera along with H. Jon Benjamin as Ben and Laura Silverman reprising her role as Dr. Katz’s receptionist. Both for the “clients” and the audience, it should be a healing, hysterical experience.

This live-streamed edition of Dr. Katz LIVE is set for Sun. Jan. 24th at 5PM PT via Rushtix. Tickets are going for $20 and you can (and very much should) get them here.

In general, therapy is something that so should be in, but these times make the emotional/mental support that therapy provides is more crucial than ever.

Luckily, one of the best animated therapists around, Dr. Katz of Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist, is doing a very special virtual show this month to see some of his more high profile clients including Jon Hamm, Oscar Nunez, Bob Saget, Susie Essman, Andy Kindler, and Paul F. Tompkins.

With the results of tomorrow’s election not being able to be confidently announced for awhile, a comedy therapy session is something to look forward to maybe, perhaps calm yourself, even just a bit.

Also, Laura Silverman will be reprising her role as Dr. Katz’s receptionist, FYI.

Dr. Katz Live will be presented by RushTix on Sun. Nov. 15th and tickets are going for $20. Go get them here, before they sell out.

After over 15 years, the beloved series Dr. Katz has gotten revived thanks to Audible.

Jonathan Katz and Laura Silverman reprise their roles and are joined by a cavalcade of your favorite comedy folks including Dana Gould, Eddie Pepitone, Weird Al Yankovic, Maria Bamford, Emo Philips, Ron Funches, and much more in a possibly more addicting format as an audio series, Dr. Katz: The Audio Files.

Through Audible, there are 15 episodes of Dr. Katz: The Audio Files for you to listen to every week when they release new episodes. In fact, three episodes are up right now for free with guests Andy Kindler, Sarah Silverman, and Ray Romano.

If you have an Audible subscription or Amazon Prime, you can go ahead and listen to the whole series, as it comes out, for free. You can also subscribe to Audible Channels for premium original audio series as well as Dr. Katz for $4.95 a month.

If it’s any indication of what you might be in for, we went to the live taping of this revived Dr. Katz this past week with guests Paul F. Tompkins, Jon Hamm, Kristen Schaal, and Al Madrigal and it was every bit as charming as we remember the series being all those years ago.

One of LA’s best festivals Riot LA is coming back very soon, January 19th-22nd in fact.

Some of the best comedy from around LA, the country, and the world are coming to DTLA next month including Mel Brooks, Ali Wong, Rachel Bloom, Todd Barry, Rory Scovel, Tig Notaro, John Early, Aparna Nancherla, Daniel Sloss, Brew Haha, My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, Josie Long, Jo Firestone, Dr. Katz, and plenty, plenty more.

See those names scroll by as you watch watermelons get destroyed with a mallet that’s somehow not held by Gallagher in this announcement video.

Just a few weeks after new year, when hopefully the world is back on its way to some sort of normalcy, the 5th Annual Riot LA Comedy Festival will have its run and bring some much needed comedic relief to any and all in DTLA from Jan. 20th-22nd.

So far, the festival is looking to go bigger for 2017 as the venues will be bigger and they’re going to have a ferris wheel. That’s in addition to a screening of Blazing Saddles complete with Q&A with Mel Brooks, Ali Wong headlining, a brand new round of Dr. Katz Live!, and much more TBA soon.

Passes and tickets will go on sale at riotla.com this Friday, October 14th at 10AM PDT, but there’s a AMEX and Goldenvoice pre-sale on Thursday at 10AM PDT as well.

We sincerely hope that you have a pretty big budget for traveling to comedy festivals this year. Already Moontower and SXSW look pretty amazing in Austin, TX.

The always great Bridgetown Comedy Festival is also coming up and they just announced their line-up.
