If you’re looking for something way in the future to look forward as a way to potentially have something to get you through the end of the year all the way into 2021 when maybe, possibly, hopefully there will be a vaccine that we all can get for COVID-19, there will be a magnificent collection of essays, poetry, toons, short stories, art, and so much more for well over 100 of the best women in comedy (from all corners including stand-up, writing, sketch, acting, podcasting, musical comedy, and more) in Notes from the Bathroom Line: Humor, Art, and Low-grade Panic from 150 of the Funniest Women in Comedy.

Amy Solomon (producer on Silicon Valley, Barry) curated the incredibly impressive literary gathering for this book and we really can’t wait for Mar. 16th, 2021 when Notes from the Bathroom Line is set for release.

Thus far, slated to contribute are:

Lolly Adefope, Maria Bamford, Aisling Bea, Lake Bell, Rachel Bloom, Rhea Butcher, Nicole Byer, D’Arcy Carden, Aya Cash, Karen Chee, Margaret Cho, Mary H.K. Choi, Amanda Crew, Rachel Dratch, Beanie Feldstein, Jo Firestone, Briga Heelan, Samantha Irby, Emily V. Gordon, Patti Harrison, Mary Holland, Jen Kirkman, Lauren Lapkus, Riki Lindhome, Kate Micucci, Natalie Morales, Aparna Nancherla, Yvonne Orji, Lennon Parham, Chelsea Peretti, Alexandra Petri, Natasha Rothwell, Amber Ruffin, Andrea Savage, Kristen Schaal, Megan Stalter, Beth Stelling, Cecily Strong, Sunita Mani, Geraldine Viswanathan, Michaela Watkins, Mo Welch, and Sasheer Zamata.

More contributors will be added down the line for a book that’s so much more promising than a lot of what 2020 has given us.

By the way, you can pre-order Notes from the Bathroom Line here.

Yvonne Orji’s First HBO Special “Momma, I Made It” Premieres This Saturday

Though the last episode of Insecure didn’t feature any Molly, you’ll get plenty of Yvonne Orji this weekend as the Insecure star will be premiering her very first hour comedy special, Momma, I Made It, at HBO. The special itself will cut between very personal stories and stand-up from Orji and her embarking to Nigeria to reconnect with her family and heritage. Yvonne also sees how well she can blend in Nigeria as a Nigerian-American.

See a bit of it for yourself in this promo, then look for the premiere/release of Yvonne Orji: Momma, I Made It! on Sat. Jun. 6th at 10PM on HBO (then streaming on HBO GO/HBO NOW).

HBO Line-Ups a Comedy Special with Yvonne Orji

HBO just continues adding on to their growing list of intriguing stand-up specials. They already have the very intriguing The Golden One on deck from Whitmer Thomas.

Now, they’ve added an hour special from Yvonne Orji AKA Molly from Insecure. Apparently, there is footage shot in Nigeria, her birthplace, which will be intercut with her upcoming live performance here in America at HBCU, Howard. Our best guess is that it’ll be somewhat like Gulman’s HBO special The Great Depresh in switching Orji’s material and then remote segments getting more personal about her life, especially in Nigeria.

So, it’s pretty clear now that HBO has taken to a more high art/solo show-esque path with their comedy specials compared to their competitors and we’re pretty on board for that.

The Super Serious Show will be marking their 8 year milestone this month and that alone could be a reason to go. However, you won’t to get to a line-up quite specifically like this one very often (even though LA is veritable spoil of comedy riches on a nightly basis).

So, we highly urge you to get your tickets ($7 in advance and $10 dollars cash at door) as soon as you can for this momentous occasion.

-See a great line-up.
-Support the Downtown Women’s Center.
-Get to see an episode of Comedy Central’s new series Corporate before it premieres.

So, get your tickets already!
