Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Remake with Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson to Be Helmed by Veep Director Chris Addison

The remake of comedy classic Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is going forward with Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson taking on the roles that Steve Martin and Michael Caine once played and, just announced, Chris Addison, a director on HBO’s Veep, as the director.

Also, he script is written by Jac Schaeffer who wrote and directed the intriguing TiMER.

It’s an interesting mix and, altogether, we hope that there isn’t the nonsense that happened with the Ghostbusters reboot.

Black-ish Creator Kenya Barris Working on White Men Can’t Jump Remake

Athletes that have found a new home in Tinseltown, Blake Griffin and Ryan Kalil, will be joining Barris in remaking the 1992 comedy classic.

We wonder if Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes will make a cameo as the street ball legends they try hustling at the end of the original movie.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Is Getting Female Led Remake with Rebel Wilson Starring

Hopefully there are no Ghostbusters-like fanboys that Hollywood will have to pay attention to or attempt to satisfy for this particular female-led remake of a comedy classic.

Also, assuming that Rebel will be taking on the Steve Martin role, Cate Blanchett should be the other ‘dirty rotten scoundrel’ that was played by Michael Caine, right?

This could be both a very nice tribute to the late Garry Marshall and something nice at Lifetime that isn’t “unauthorized”.

China is not the only giant film market that American companies are trying to break into. India’s got a booming film business and Relativity Media is going to attempt to bridge their way into it with Indian remakes which will include the heist comedy Masterminds starring Zach Galifianakis and more.

Other comedies that could potentially get a similar remake are Take Me Home Tonight, Movie 43, Hector and the Search for Happiness, and Don Jon.

One can only wonder will look like with Indian stars, done in Indian languages, and done in the Bollywood arena where CGI effects go crazy and singing and dancing are still very popular.

Jason Sudeikis to Star as Fletch in ‘Fletch Won’

In a reboot of the original landmark Chevy Chase vehicle, Jason Sudeikis picks up the role of Fletch. We had no idea that a new Fletch was in the works, but it’s not surprising that Hollywood would be doing another remake.

Still, with that said, Sudeikis might do well for Fletch Won.

Forget about the big budget reboot of Robocop.

Many of the great creative people of Channel 101 are crowdsourcing a whole remake of Robocop, a sort of real life “sweded” version of the movie, and it looks like the remake you’ll want to see that studios would never get behind.

Watch the trailer here.
