Eric Andre Cast in Jay Baruchel FX/FXx Pilot Man Seeking Woman

Eric Andre will possibly get back to simultaneously not only being on two shows, but also being two way different personalities on either show with being cast in FX/FXx pilot Man Seeking Woman starring Jay Baruchel. When Don’t Trust the B in Apt. 23 was on the air, Eric was mild mannered compared to his anti talk show host character on The Eric Andre Show.

With this FXx pilot though, as a “cocky best friend”, Eric will be playing slightly closer to the Eric-Andre-Show Eric.

Greta Gerwig to Star In CBS Spin-Off Pilot of How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Dad, a spin off of CBS hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother, will indeed star as well as be produced and even written by indie comedy darling Greta Gerwig.

No word on whether they will have her dancing and a few episodes tastefully done in black and white, but if this gets picked up with her current level on involvement, this could be great.

FX Tries For Another Rock Comedy with Pilot From Denis Leary

Two years ago, FX had Dana Gould and Dave Grohl developing a rock comedy, which we’re really excited about, but ended up not going very far beyond development.

In 2014, a force behind one of their longest running series in Rescue Me, Denis Leary, is taking another crack at a rock comedy in a pilot called Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.

Perhaps, this one will fare a little better.

The wonderful Sara Benincasa has gotten her book Agorafabulous!: Dispatches from My Bedroom optioned to be a pilot for the USA network along with Diablo Cody on board as a producer.

Hopefully, we’ll hear about it getting green lit before too long.

Details on The Chris Gethard Show Pilot for Comedy Central

A Q&A with Chris Gethard and company revealed some key details on the upcoming Comedy Central pilot for The Chris Gethard Show including the fact that he would love to fight Pete Holmes, it will be a half hour, it won’t be taped at MNN, show would hopefully air live, if the pilot isn’t picked up, then they’ll apparently wrap up TCGS for good, and more.

So, let’s cross our fingers or indulge whatever ritual you think maybe works to get this on the air (or if you’re a Comedy Central exec reading this, just make the appropriate call after the pilot to make sure it goes to series so The Chris Gethard Show can live on).

Rob Huebel To Star In IFC Pilot ‘American Storage’

Believe it or not, this is not a parody of the popular reality TV series Storage Wars, which we’re sure Rob Huebel could satirize quite well in a leading roll.

Still, Huebel living in a storage unit and all the weirdness that comes with it is definitely grounds for a show we want to watch at IFC.

Rob Corddry Joins HBO Pilot ‘Ballers’

Rob Corddry is set to play a guy that has to deal with retired and active athletes as decidedly not an athlete in this HBO pilot.

Also, Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) is directing the pilot. So, this will definitely be something to watch for .

The Black List Expands to Include Television, Web Series, and Series Pilots

What used to be the word-of-mouth hot list of unproduced screenplays known as The Black List has expanded into an entire of network that allows for blind submissions, professional evaluation services of shorter form screenwriting that includes TV, web content, and more.

As to whether your comedy web series pilot has potential to make it to the actual highly publicized and circulated Black List has yet to be seen, but it wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility.

HBO Developing Comedy from Diablo Cody and Oprah Winfrey

Diablo Cody is having a nice year in doing a TBS talk show pilot, developing a series with Jack Black, Amanda Lund, and Matt Gourley at Fox, and now developing another series with, you did read that headline right, Oprah Winfrey at HBO.

So, 2014 could be a banner TV year for Cody and Oprah WInfrey, we’re guessing, really liked Juno.

Comedy Central Orders ‘The Chris Gethard Show’ Pilot from Funny or Die and Zach Galifianakis

Sure, there’s plenty of paperwork to be done and Comedy Central does have to see a pilot (it’s not like there’s 116 episodes of it lying around anywhere, right?), but we can only hope this amazing news becomes even more amazing sooner rather than later by getting to The Chris Gethard Show as a full fledged television show.

Also, please note that Funny or Die, as far as we’re concerned, is swinging a pretty great batting average on TV with Billy on the Street, “@midnight w/Chris Hardwick”, and hopefully The Chris Gethard Show.

CBS Jim Gaffigan Pilot to Have Zimbabwe Catholic Priest Character

Since CBS has revived Jim Gaffigan’s pilot, there’s been some retooling and recasting. This it turns out that Gaffigan’s show will have a Zimbabwean priest, which we’re absolutely sure will add another layer to any food jokes Jim makes.

Sean Clements and Dominic Dierkes to Star in Pilot ‘Checked Out’ at Comedy Central

Just on having the very funny Sean Clements and Dominic Dierkes in an odd couple-esque sitcom for Comedy Central’s latest scripted series pilot should make for something good, possibly, hopefully, we will all see on TV soon.

HBO Orders Political Comedy Pilot From Jay Roach/Jerry Weintraub/Roberto Benabib

Veep has been quite the success for HBO and there’s certainly room for scripted political comedy on TV, even on the same channel.

This project sounds very intriguing as it sounds basically like Dr. Strangelove for TV and it’s being developed at a place like HBO.

ABC Buys Paul Scheer Relationship Comedy

Potentially, with ABC buying a Paul Scheer comedy, husband and wife Paul Scheer and June Diane Raphael could both have sitcoms on the network (Raphael has already sold a pilot at ABC).

Not only would it be one hell of a comedy power couple, but ABC could have a formidable comedy line-up for this coming season.

Mike White Headed to NBC with Chef Comedy Pilot

Together, Mike White, Joe Port, and Joe Wiseman have sold a pilot to NBC centering around the world of chefs.

This is yet another surprising, but also welcome move by NBC as to what direction they want to head in comedy as they’re developing a pilot from the guy who created Enlightened at HBO.

Executive Producers of Axe Cop Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser Get Fox Put Pilot Commitment

Without even closing out a first season, Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser of Axe Cop are doing a live action comedy pilot with Fox.

CBS Buys Comedy From Jason Winer & Kay Cannon

Modern Family’s Jason Winer and Pitch Perfect/30 Rock’s Kay Cannon are teaming up over at CBS for a single camera comedy project that might be worth keeping an eye on.

ABC Buys Comedy From June Diane Raphael, Casey Wilson & Jonathan Groff

Based off how much their names have been in the trades and the deals they have signed, it was only a matter of a little time before the great June Diane Raphael and Casey Wilson sold a pilot to a network especially with the deal that had ABC in place.

Along with Jonathan Groff (Happy Endings), Raphael and Wilson now have sold a pilot as well as have a movie coming out in Ass Backwards.

Justin Spitzer & Aaron Kaplan Sell Detroit Auto Co. Comedy Pilot to NBC

Another The Office-esque single camera comedy is coming from former Office writer Justin Spitzer at NBC this time, instead of a municipal government department or an office supply company, it’ll be set in Detroit at an automotive company.

So, we guess that there will be a darker tone? We’d more confidently guess, by this move, that NBC isn’t done with single camera workplace comedies though.

Paul Giamatti Starring in FX Dramedy Pilot

Based on the hardboiled detective novels of Charles Willeford in addition to being described as a comedic drama, it’s hard to tell whether this pilot at FX will end up in FX’s drama half or over at FXx.

Still, the idea that Paul Giamatti can be another character that could potentially have another Sideways-esque meltdown makes us hope that they will happen soon and often wherever the series could land.
