Apparently, art thievery, Nazi gold, comedy, and Johnny Depp aren’t enough to convince Lionsgate to stick to their original release date for Mortdecai. The weekend they originally had planned on, Feb. 6th, would put Mortdecai up against the sci-fi epic Jupiter Ascending.
Now, Mortdecai will roll out on Jan. 23rd, two weeks early to the chagrin of art theft comedy/Johnny Depp fans.
On the latest episode of Nathan For You, Nathan Fielder helps out a souvenir shop on Hollywood Blvd. boost its sales by making people think that a movie is being shot there and convincing them to actually buy gifts from that souvenir shop.
Turns out that staging a movie in order for people to buy stuff wasn’t exactly legal and Fielder had to deal with that.
Aubrey Plaza, Oliver Platt, Jeff Goldblum Board Johnny Depp’s ‘Mortdecai’
Say what you will, but an action comedy about stolen art with Aubrey Plaza, Oliver Platt, and Jeff Goldblum with ‘Nazi loot’ pretty much has us sold even though it’s not a Wes Anderson movie.
A teaser/trailer of Mortdecai needs to come out ASAP.
