Pick of The Day: TCB @ Townhouse Venice (in LA) 9/21

Yes, we’re going to become more of a regular fixture at The Townhouse Venice. We had our first taste of putting on a show of the true, from-decades-past, speakeasy, Townhouse, that’s right at the iconic entrance to the Venice Boardwalk a few months back and it was every bit the rollicking, all-encompassing, intimate night of comedy that we’ve dreamed of doing for awhile.

So, Townhouse Venice has invited us here at The Comedy Bureau for another special handpicked evening of the best comedy folks (after having watched comedy every day/night of their life for 13 years or 10,000 hours several times over) on Wed. Sept. 21st.

This edition will feature the comedy stylings that you might have seen on Ramy or Vulture’s latest Comedians You Should and Will Know list including Dave Merheje, Amy Miller, Jet Eveleth, and Milan Patel.

Doors are at 7PM, show is at 7:30PM, and tickets are $10. Go get ’em here quick.

Pick of the Day: Touched by Jet Eveleth (in LA) 9/24

When it comes to clowning in LA, Jet Eveleth, along with all of her work with Clown Church and the Highland Park Clowns, is one of the central figures that you really ought to follow obsessively. Eveleth’s vulnerability and cleverness in her clowning performances simultaneously connects with the audience’s humanity, but still revels in delightful chaos.

So, with that in mind, you really ought to catch her solo show, Touched by Jet Eveleth, at the end of next month in LA’s newly minted experimental comedy theater, Public Displays of Altadena. It’s set for Sat. Sept. 24th at 7PM. Tickets are only $10. All proceeds will go to the theater.

Altadena might not be close to where you’re at in LA, but trust that Jet is always worth the drive.

Stamptown, one of the premier brands of international comedy, is back in LA once more to present the prestige acts at places like Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Whether they’re yanks or from across a pond (or a giant pond), it’s a mind-bending variety night of comedy that has some of the best boundary pushing comedians around (Natalie Palamides, BriTANick, Courtney Pauroso, and, of course, hosts Zach [Zucker] & Viggo [Venn]).

Tickets are only $15 for Stamptown Comedy later this month on Fri. Jan. 17th. Go get ‘em before they sell out here.

Beloved clowns Chad Damiani and Jet Eveleth have been doing this thing where they “attempt” to put up a version of some well-known play or production with a bit of live direction, then have to deal with things not going according to plan (which is ultimately part of the plan).

So, they’re gathering up a bunch of their favorite clown/idiot compatriots to take on the Nativity Show, which is the sort of holiday chaos we’re down for.

We’re excited to see what they all do with what they’re calling The Best Version of the Nativity Show. It’s set for Fri. Dec. 13th at the brand spanking new venue Silver Park Arts. Tickets are $7.89 and you can (and very much should) get them here.
