Episodes of ‘Heathers’ Got Pulled Off the Air Again Following Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting

Episodes of ‘Heathers’ Got Pulled Off the Air Again Following Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting

You can still watch these pulled episodes that deal with school shootings in particular on Paramount Network’s app or on VOD, but we bet that this, of all the things you can be outraged about on TV with respect to what’s going on in the world, ranks pretty low.

We will say that Eighth Grade and BoJack Horseman did manage to handle the topic of mass shootings with delicacy, while also being caustically funny.

Don’t worry, something else terrible in the news cycle will pop up in about an hour or so and, as mentioned earlier, you can still see it via streaming before the finale tonight.

Looks Like That Heathers TV Series Will Go on Air After All

Though it’ll be airing as a “5 night binge event” and is being touted as highly “controversial” (apparently, it will also have major edits and combined the penultimate episode and season finale into one ep.), the Heathers reboot/TV adaptation is going on TV after all on The Paramount Network.

It’ll start airing on October 25th. If there is another major school shooting between now and the end of their “binge event” (which, very sadly, could happen), we’ll be curious to see what Paramount does this time around.

Here’s an announcement from an OG Heather and a new trailer.

Though the tone may relatively be the same, the TV adaption for Heathers is definitely made to be as timely as possibly can be (there is a Shannen Doherty cameo for you nostalgia obsessives out there). Combined with Waco, the newly minted Paramount Network isn’t off to a bad start at all.

See for yourself in the series first full trailer, which is thankfully uncensored as it’s “red band”, here.

Look for the premiere of Heathers on Wednesday, March 7th on the Paramount Network.

Here’s What a Modern Day, TV Version of “Heathers” Looks Like

The original dark cult comedy Heathers hit theaters nearly 30 years ago in 1988.

TV Land has rebooted and adapted Heathers for the small screen and given it a very current day update to the look and feel (the original is very much a product of the 80s FYI). That being said, the tone of dark humor and salty language seems to be quite intact.

See for yourself in the teaser.

Heathers comes to TV Land next year.

TV Land Orders Adapted Version of ‘Heathers’ as Anthology Series

The 1988 cult dark comedy Heathers will be getting its TV treatment after all, but with a big twist. TV Land has orders 10 episodes of the series that could become an anthology if renewed for future seasons.

So, an “American Heather Story”?

“Heathers” TV Adaptation Gets Pilot Order at TV Land

In its dive into original programming, TV Land is definitely distancing themselves, in regards to tone, content, etc., from the old reruns more and more.

The latest development for original comedy over at TV Land is the upgrade of a TV adaptation of the 1988 dark comedy Heathers from a script order to a full pilot order. Interestingly, it’ll be an anthology series as opposed to following a single group of ‘heathers’ and be written by Jason Micallef, the writer of the dark comedy Butter.

Given Winona Ryder’s recent return to the limelight from Stranger Things, we also have to imagine that she’ll make some sort of cameo.
