Please Watch “Disengaged”, One of the Best Web Series of the Year

We know it’s only March, but Hannah Utt and Jen Tullock’s web series Disengaged, streaming at Super Deluxe, is already on our short list for one of our favorite things that we’ve come across this year.

Disengaged follows Utt and Tullock as a lesbian couple who rush getting married after DOMA is struck down. The whirlwind of events that follow are simultaneously so organic, grounded, timely, and damn hysterical.

The pilot was released late last year, but the next four episodes of season 1 are all streaming right now.

In such a subtly perfect Key & Peele sketch, a town hall meeting marking the landmark of gay marriage bans being prohibited nationwide finds an audience camera focusing a lot on Jordan Peele.

It might just be a coincidence or an accident, but you should just see it for yourself.

Watch and enjoy here.

“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Gets First Late Night Jokes on The SCOTUS Decision on Gay Marriage

That’s right. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert isn’t on until September, but Stephen Colbert managed to be the first late night show host to have a segment of some sort weighing in on the milestone in U.S. history.

Such big news as yesterday’s Supreme Court decision that effectively made gay marriage legal across the country is usually met by comedy’s first responders (outside of social media) through the world of late night. We’re sure all comedians everywhere had something to say about it, especially regarding the dissenting opening from Scalia.

However, several most late night shows don’t tape on Friday like Conan, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, The Late Late Show with James Corden, @midnight with Chris Hardwick and The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. The few that do tape on Fridays such as Jimmy Kimmel Live and Late Night with Seth Meyers opted for reruns this week.

In fact, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was scheduled to be the only late night show with a new episode, but he injured his hand to the point of needing surgery. Thus, he canceled last night’s taping.

SNL is on hiatus, so we were thinking we would have to wait for John Oliver to comment on this great moment on Last Week Tonight on Sunday.

Yet, leave it to the one and only Stephen Colbert to come up with an on-point remote segment from his desk that would otherwise be the type of opening monologue you’d be looking for on his era of The Late Show.

Watch Colbert continue to prove that he will do a bang up job on The Late Show right here.

Trevor Moore Makes a Country Anthem For How Ridiculous People Against Gay Marriage Are

Trevor Moore’s new special High in Church premieres this Fri. Mar. 6th at midnight on Comedy Central, but we’ve been getting small previews here and there of the sharp, very clever satire that’s in store.

First there was a parallel universe where cats acted exactly like us and now there’s this new music video for “Gays Got Married” where Moore envisions what people against gay marriage are thinking will happen when gay marriage is passed as law.

Of course, the message seems most poignant when done as a country song.

Key & Peele returns tomorrow night on Comedy Central and while we can feel the anticipation in there being mere hours until then, there’s still all of today and most of tomorrow that we have to go through before said season premiere.

Luckily, there’s this great gay wedding advice sketch from this new season to hold you over.

People who talk to their computer screens, record it, and just say whatever comes to their mind with no filter often say the most ludicrous things ever. Uploading their rhetoric online has resulted in a myriad of people speaking their mind when they should probably speak to someone else first.

So with that in mind, the very funny Jared Logan satirizes this fad with “Don’t You Think” where he adds a green screen and a guest in Guy Branum and comes from a place where you constantly quote your HS football coach.
