As there is a seemingly endless canon of documentaries, there’s a similarly endless source for material for Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, Seth Meyers to lovingly parody said documentaries.
Let’s not forget that esteemed actress Helen Mirren is still hosting the whole thing.
For the second or, as the show dictates, season 51 of Documentary Now! on IFC, Hader and Armisen will be doing their take on Stop Making Sense, Jiro Dreams of Sushi, and more.

It seems fitting that the stars of Documentary Now! would get an award from The Smithsonian.
The Smithsonian Institution has their own eponymous magazine that annual gives out awards in several categories, many which line up with a corresponding Smithsonian museum in Washington D.C.
Both Fred Armisen and Bill Hader will be receiving the honor of the American Ingenuity Award for Documentary Now!, which is definitely one of the most innovative, high concept shows to come around in some time.
Hopefully, Armisen and Hader will attend and do some sort of Documentary Now! bit.

If you’ve always thought that documentaries besides Ken Burns needed their send-up, Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen, and Bill Hader have got you covered with their parody docu-series Documentary Now!
The series premiere is tonight at the aforementioned time 10PM on IFC.
The triumvirate of IFC’s Documentary Now!, Seth Meyers, Bill Hader, and Fred Armisen all met this week on Late Night with Seth Meyers and announced that IFC had ordered seasons 2 and 3 of the parody docu-series.
Upon hearing the news for “the first time”, Hader “exclaimed” surprise and joy during his interview.
Any takers on what documentaries, doc styles they’ll parody in the coming seasons? Michael Moore, Alex Gibney, Act of Killing?
You can now see more of the hijinks inspired by several actually famous documentaries that Bill Hader and Fred Armisen got themselves into.
IFC was nice enough to put this full episode of Documentary Now! for your convenient viewing pleasure/”nostalgia of this classic documentary series” online leading up to the premiere next week on Thurs. Aug. 20th at 10PM.

Helen Mirren is set to host the parody documentary series created by Bill Hader, Fred Armisen, and Seth Meyers called Documentary Now! coming to IFC on Aug. 20th.
We wonder if this will take her down more comedic roads, more roles like she’s had in Red, if this really clicks.
An Al Capone Festival in Iceland, the first documentary about the Inuit, drug cartels, a band called Blue Jean Committee, are just a few “subjects” they’ll be covering.
The minds of Armisen, Hader, and Meyers have banded together to make up fake history of which to do documentaries about. The series, which has been ordered for six episodes at IFC, is appropriately called Documentary Now!
Fred and Bill will star in the series donning a plethora of costumes and accents.
