Despite a major casting change and a shift to an hour long format, Cameron Crowe’s Roadies is going to see the light of a slot on Showtime’s programming schedule.

It seems like it has been quite awhile since Crowe embarked on making a TV show even though it has only been a year since it was announced that he was doing a comedy based on the lives of ‘roadies’ at Showtime.

Now, Carla Gugino will fill in the lead role originally occupied by Christina Hendricks and the show itself will be an hour long workplace-ish comedy that sees big rock concerts through the eyes of those literally setting the stage.

We’ll get to see exactly what Crowe has cooked up in 2016.

Cameron Crowe’s “Deep Tiki” Now Called “Aloha” and Gets a Trailer

Last year, we caught wind of what might be a “Hawaii rocket launch rom com” in Cameron Crowe’s latest film, which was called Deep Tiki at the time.

Since then, the movie’s title has changed to Aloha and the first trailer has arrived. Where it will end up the Cameron Crowe spectrum of romantic comedies from Say Anything to Almost Famous to Elizabethtown has yet to be seen. The love triangle between Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, and Rachel McAdams seems to lean more in tone towards Elizabethtown, but the presences of Danny McBride, Alec Baldwin, and Bill Murray lean more towards Say Anything.

Either way, we’re intrigued to see another trailer as well as the movie itself.

Cameron Crowe’s Showtime comedy pilot “Roadies” has just locked its cast. Luke Wilson, who had an excellent turn in Skeleton Twins this year,  Imogen Poots, Keisha Castle-Hughes, and Peter Cambor will all play a touring rock band’s road crew making for a sort-of workplace comedy set behind-the-scenes at a rock concert.

Roadies definitely seems like the perfect bridge for Crowe to get into TV and we can’t wait to hear the soundtrack he has in store for us.

Once there was a script for a project that writer/director Cameron Crowe was writing called Deep Tiki, which was retooled for a cast of Bill Murray, Bradley Cooper, and Emma Stone. It’s been in the works, and untitled, for well over a year and can be best most fully described, so far as we can tell, as a “Hawaiian rocket launch rom com”.

If you like all of those elements together (and we really can’t imagine why you wouldn’t), be happy to know that this film is set for release in May 2015 according to Crowe in an interview with Variety.

We wouldn’t be surprised if a fun trailer with rockets, great music, Murray’s classic face, all against the Hawaii sunset is coming relatively soon.

Showtime Orders ‘Roadies’ Comedy Pilot From Cameron Crowe, Winnie Holzman & J.J. Abrams

Showtime has now ordered the pilot of the Cameron Crowe rock concert comedy project known as Roadies that will be produced by J.J. Abrams and Winnie Holzman.

There’s still no word on casting, but with these names attached already on the project, as we stated before, Roadies will probably have a more than noteworthy cast.

Cameron Crowe’s Developing a Comedy for Showtime

Cameron Crowe is indeed making his way to comedic television as he is developing a series entitled Roadies for Showtime. There’s no cast attached as of yet, but we’re sure that Crowe will get some great folks together for a comedy series about a rock tour.

Whether this ends up being a sort of Almost Famous: The Series, we’re on board.

Bill Murray Joining Cameron Crowe Romantic Comedy

We don’t need to tell you that this latest Cameron Crowe film just got that much better now that Bill Murray is part of the cast.

How much better is “that much better”? Well, you did read the headline, right?

Cameron Crowe’s Romantic Comedy To Have Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and More

By now, ensemble cast romantic comedies should be a little bit of a red flag, but with Cameron Crowe attached as well as rounding a cast of Jay Baruchel, Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Alec Baldwin, Emma Stone, and Danny McBride should make for something noteworthy.
