Pick of the Day: I Cast Them Off Craigslist (Presented by Blake Rosier) (in LA) 2/16

January 30, 2024
News

Though it may seem unlikely, experimental comedian Blake Rosier somehow manages to find a way to outdo himself/up the ante. Over four shows, he has embarked into the great unknown by co-hosting a show with a complete stranger that has little to no performance experience, sourced from Craigslist, that is devised within an afternoon and put up in front of a live, paying audience that very same night. Rosier has gone so meta with it by making accompanying documentaries that capture the delightful strangeness of it all.

Rosier is now bringing this grand comedy/performance experiment to its peak by reuniting with all four Craiglist strangers-turned-Rosier-collaborators on to one show for what should be the absurd, yet most enthralling reunion you see all year (any and all reality TV reunions included). This very special conclusion to I Cast Them Off Craigslist is set for Fri. Feb. 16th at 9PM and tix are only $12. Please go get them here before they sell out.

Pick of the Day: Blake Rosier’s Bad Show (in NYC) 8/5

We’re thrilled that Blake Rosier, one of the bolder, daring comedians (e.g. doing shows with permitted tomato throwing at the performers, performing/living in theaters for a whole week) in the LA comedy scene right now, is currently on tour across the country. Rosier’s penchant for experimentation and knack for absurdity and commitment to vulnerability have made for some of the most memorable, enthralling, and hilarious shows we’ve seen in awhile.

Come next week, Rosier’s tour with his “bad” show will find its way to Union Hall in Brooklyn and New Yorkers can delight in Blake’s special kind of controlled chaos. Blake Rosier’s Bad Show will take place on Sat. Aug. 5th at 10PM and you ought to nab your tickets at $15 a pop here.

Pick of the Day: 120 Hours Straight with Blake Rosier (in LA) 3/20-3/24

blake rosier, los angeles comedy, marathon performance, yard theater

On the tail of the LA Marathon this weekend, boundary pushing comedian Blake Rosier will be commencing his latest marathon comedy/performance art experience where he will be living at The Yard Theater for 5 entire days. This time, you can come watch him sleep and live in the space in person, if you’re into that sort of thing, or you can enjoy him actually putting on five hours of packed show each night running from 7PM PT to Midnight PT.

Per Rosier’s own rules, he’ll only be able to eat what is given to him by folks who come to the theater. It’s quite the insane feat and, knowing Rosier, there are probably some twists/turns/surprises in store that we don’t know about (and, frankly, maybe Blake himself isn’t even aware of). You can either find your way to The Yard Theater in East Hollywood next week between Mon. Mar. 20th and Fri. Mar 24th or you can live-stream 120 Hours with Blake Rosier at youtube.com/blakerosier (that would be 10PM ET to 3AM ET for shows).

Take a Look at What Goes Into Blake Rosier Doing a Live Show with a Craigslist Stranger (in Less Than Four Hours)

News
blake rosier, craigslist

Comedian/actor/creator Blake Rosier pushes envelopes so much that one might wonder how much further he can push it. Then, he finds a way to do it.

Case in point, creating an entire live show to be performed for a live audience only four hours before showtime with, on top of all of that, a complete stranger off of Craigslist. Rosier’s dedication to experimentation and collaboration, no matter how silly or absurd he has to be in order to pull it off, continues to be so engrossing (this is the second time he has done it and it’s still wildly unpredictable).

Rosier made a “documentary” following the journey of trying to pull off such a crazy stunt and it almost feels like reality TV of a performance artist (i.e. something we’re completely on board for despite hating almost all other reality TV).

Peer into the world and mind of Blake with this latest almost full length doc of his latest Craiglist show here.

Pick of the Day: Blake Rosier Presents: The Tomato Show (in LA) 1/8

News

2023 approaches and you may be having an appropriate sense of deeply cautious optimism or equally valid only slightly tempered cynicism. With the state of the world as it is and where it might be headed, wouldn’t it be fun to start off the year by being personally invited to throw tomatoes at comedic performers at a live show?

Such a practice was left to obscurity several decades ago, but comedic mastermind and experimenter Blake Rosier is bringing this ritual(?) back for night only at The Yard Theater in LA on Sun. Jan. 8th at 7PM. If in attendance, you’ll have the chance to throw tomatoes at Devon Drew, Elle Chapman, Indy Wilson, Austin Nasso, Adouria, Cerspence, Kev, and, of course, Blake himself. Undoubtedly, chaos will ensue and, perhaps, maybe bring a poncho?

If you’re New Year’s Resolution is to act with more intention, this is a great way to kick that journey off. Tickets are only $10 and you can (and should) go get them here.

From marathon live shows where he essentially lives in a theater space for a week to putting a show on with complete strangers after less than a day of meeting and brainstorming with them, Blake Rosier is going to open himself up in a different way with his Bad Show, coming to the Elysian next month. In addition to taking some of the biggest swings in comedy that we’ve seen as of late, Rosier has a sizable bag of absurd characters that revel to the nth degree in their absurdity and is also an expert at exposing them at their most vulnerable, especially when they sort refuse to acknowledge everything go awry. Blake Rosier’s Bad Show will put a holidays-sized portion of them on this upcoming variety showcase.

Joining Blake in the delightful chaos will be other such like-minded comedy folks including Molly Renze, Isabel Klein, Sethward, Cherdleys, and Drew Horton.

Blake Rosier’s Bad Show is set for Tues. Dec. 13th at 9;30PM and tickets are only $12 right now. Go get ’em here.

Pick of the Day: I cast them off… craigslist (in LA) 9/30

One of the most audacious things we’ve seen on stage in awhile, unsurprisingly comes from one of the more audacious performers we’ve come across in awhile. One Blake Rosier pushes himself in both performance and his comedy with marathon performances that span several days, literally living in a theater, to going on a first date on stage, and more.

Rosier’s latest endeavor involves coming up with an entire show with a stranger that he sources off of Craigslist within an afternoon and then putting it on stage that very same evening. Rosier tries to cleverly give the Craigslist guest collaborator as much control over the direction of the show as possible making for a unique one-of-a-kind comedy experience.

Oh yeah, there’s a documentary of the whole experience being shot the whole time, which is yet another fun, meta part of the show. The only way this would be riskier, performance-wise, would be if there was a daredevil, life-threatening part of the show (and maybe that will end up being part of it?).

The latest edition of I Cast Them Off Craigslist is set for this Fri. Sept. 30th at The Yard Theater. Tickets are only $8 and you better go snag them here.

Pick of the Day: 5 Dates on Stage with Blake Rosier (in LA w/Livestream) 10/19-10/23

5 dates on stage, blake rosier, los angeles comedy

After doing the marathon of live-streaming 5 days of living and performing in a theater, the daring Blake Rosier is both upping the ante with his next feat/performance and one-upping The Bachelor franchise at the same time with 5 Dates on Stage.

Blake will indeed be going on 5 different dates over the course of this week and having different costumers, make-up artists, therapists, comedians, and etc. take him through one of the most risky versions of speed dating we’ve ever heard of. On top of that, Blake will do his old marathon performance practice of only being fed what is brought to him. Unlike any sort of dating competition show, this will ACTUALLY be unscripted and full of the sort of chaos that things like Love Island try to manufacture. Already, Blake has taken over Nessa Barrett’s billboard in order to promote the show, so you ought to know that truly anything can happen.

Rosier will be once again taking over Oh My Ribs at 6468 Santa Monica Blvd. for 5 Dates on Stage with Blake Rosier starting Tues. Oct. 19th through Sat. Oct. 23rd with the actual dates happening at 7PM PT-12AM PT each night. You can stroll in to see one hell of a comedy/live performance experiment in person or stream it (as well as anything off hours) at youtube.com/blakerosier.
