(via Deadline)

The series premiere of Better Call Saul last night on AMC scored the highest ratings in key demos (18-49) on cable ever. 6.9 million total viewers and 4.4 million in key demos is what overnight ratings report, despite the shift away from dependence on Nielsen ratings.

We’d bet that the ratings over a month are probably going to be even more astounding if all the positive response from critics and fans alike keeps building.

Despite Bob Odenkirk playing the titular role of Saul Goodman in AMC’s upcoming Better Call Saul, Bob is still in shock, apparently, that he is indeed the star of this series.

While on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, he could hardly express himself in words and, well, found another way to express it. Watch it here.

Bob Odenkirk has had stacks of old stand-up jokes for years and years and before he goes on forward with Better Call Saul and other non-stand-up pursuits, he wanted to get them recorded live.

The result is the comedy album “Amateur Hour”, a really fun meta ride through Bob reading his old jokes, often crumpling ones that he doesn’t want to do along with the enthusiastic, very young Brandon Wardell to contrast. There’s, very much in the spirit of Mr. Show, also an “old instructional” track on how to do stand-up from decades past.

It should be a fun thing to listen to while you’re enduing the marathon of food and family that is Thanksgiving. Get it from AST Records now.
