On one of the hundreds of online dating sites that exist, Tig Notaro has a profile with an very honest intro video, which, contemporary of hers, Dave Hill responds to also with a whole video. It’s only a run through as Dave gets notes on what Tig might be into romantically from an expert source, especially, as Tig admits, she has cancer.

If more online dating was like this, all the claims they make about finding matches would probably be much more substantial. 

The AV Club’s Stand Down web series, that hears stories of stand-up gone wrong and animating it, this week, takes in the Sklar Brothers’ hell gig a major, giant corporation party in Palm Springs. With stories like this of legitimately funny people dealing with corporate parties and having a less than ideal show happening, you’d think that they wouldn’t have, at the very least, round tables with live comedy.

The sketch stand-up hybrid show hosted by TJ Miller, Mash Up, isn’t premiering until Tues. Oct. 9th at 12:30AM, but, for now, you can watch the amazing opening by the show’s co-creator and director Jordan Vogt-Roberts.

Over two weeks ago, Andy Haynes taped his Conan set. What you might not know or able to internalize is the amount of refining that goes into a 6 min. television set. Luckily, Scott Moran’s Modern Comedian got a look into exactly like that.

FYF Fest just released their official set times for their Downtown LA extravaganza, which includes a wonderful 4 shows at their comedy tent set up along Broadway. Tonight, between Conan and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, comedians are well represented on this evening’s late night talk show line-ups. Maybe you’ll want to not watch what Netflix suggests and have never heard of or set your DVR to catch all of this.

In Bruges writer/director Martin McDonagh has carved out quite a niche in dark comedy with that film as well his several plays that first brought him fame. His latest film Seven Psychopaths where a “dog borrowing goes wrong” seems to live up to McDonagh’s absurd, existentialist humor with plenty of death hanging overhead. We called out the film’s first trailer in a piece for we wrote for the Nerdist for relying too heavily on it’s all star cast rather than laugh out loud moments, but this latest red band trailer makes us want to take back what we said. 

However, a film starring Sam Rockwell, Christopher Walken, Woody Harrelson, Tom Waits, and more doesn’t hurt. Seven Psychopaths is set to release Oct. 12th.

Dominic Dierkes, often known for being a part of Derrick Comedy, notched his first late night stand-up set on Conan and killed it. It’s nice to see the progression of getting JFL’s New Faces of Comedy and then this working out very nicely.

Also, we’re glad to see The Little Modern Theater got a shout out.

The day that so many comedy nerds and This American Lifers(?) have been waiting for is finally here. Mike Birbiglia’s Sleepwalk With Me is making it’s LA debut tonight at the Landmark, of which Birbiglia promised to be in attendance. As that’s the case, of course, Mike would make an appearance on Conan and make a great bus film industry metaphor joke, right? 

Also, you might have been following the “war” between Joss Whedon and the Sleepwalk With Me team of Birbiglia and Ira Glass, which Sleepwalk With Me has declared victory… sort of.

Though almost all late night segments are produced to a degree, it does makes sense that Marc Maron gets really personal, as he did on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, and delves into sexual proclivities.

Both landmark comedy club The Purple Onion in San Francisco and longtime Conan character performer Brian McCann are ending their runs. While it’s unfortunate that this marks the ends of eras as Phyllis Diller used to regularly play there and McCann has been with Conan way back when it was Late Night with Conan O’Brien, you can get nostalgic.

This ought to prove to be one hell of a WTF! Podcast episode as James Adomian, who has a really great impression of Marc Maron, especially of what Maron would be like in space, is the guest on Monday’s WTF.

Admittedly, we’ve been wondering when Adomian and Maron would get together given both comedians’ comedy podcasting celebrity and the fact that very few other people do an impression of Marc Maron regularly on stage and pull it off.

By far one of the more hilariously bizarre trailers we’ve seen this year, This Must Be The Place has Sean Penn starring in what might be one his most memorable roles. He is a retired rock star that definitely takes style cues from Robert Smith from The Cure, then goes on a journey after his father’s death to find his father’s Nazi persecutor.

This is one of the few instances where we would love to see how this movie was pitched and subsequently greenlit, then got a U.S. release on Nov. 2nd. Watch the trailer now.

Bob Einstein, who some of you might know as Super Dave or George Bluth’s Sr. surrogate on Arrested Development, has one of the more entertaining episodes of Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Taking helm of the show himself for a few minutes, getting out of the car and walking for a bit, and asking where he ranks on the best guest list of the show, Einstein offers up a great example of the best parts of comedians hanging out with comedians.
