Hey Comedians, Deadline’s Blog Wants Your Opinion on the Movie Adaptation of Monopoly

As this is about what movie would best bring the Parker Brothers classic to life (i.e. Monopoly done in the style of The Godfather), not to mention that there was a failed Channel 101 pilot that already did that, we say, LET THE TWITTER HASHTAGS AND THE OVERLY CLEVER WORDPLAY FLY.

This is one of our favorite live sketches done by The Midnight Show and now it’s finally and thankfully brought to life. They were recently protested by the Westboro Baptist Church, which wouldn’t have changed their minds after watching this video, they really should have.

Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer Get Show on MTV

June 14, 2012
Uncategorized

Sara and Nikki’s You Had To Be There podcast takes them to a TV near you with The Nikki and Sara Show. It’s a late night comedy show with sketches, interviews, stand-up, and surprisingly given the current comedic climate, not an anti-talk show. So we guess that’s we’re just going to adapt podcasts into TV shows as a business model now?

Conan Teaches the Blues to First Graders and Lena Dunham Really Likes Jimmy Fallon

June 14, 2012
Uncategorized

Last night on late night:

-What would a visit to Chicago from Conan O’Brien and his ax without a bit of blues playin’?  Of course, Conan is going to play the blues for first graders.
–Lena Dunham really liked Jimmy Fallon in high school like many high school girls like their celeb crushes, in an obsessive, closet shrine, kind of a way.

Tonight on late night:
Scott Aukerman on Attack of the Show (G4 7PM)
TJ Miller on Conan (TBS 11PM)
Don Rickles on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson (CBS 12:35AM)

Chris Rock a la Woody Allen in “2 Days in New York”

June 14, 2012
Uncategorized

2 Days in New York puts Chris Rock into the center of a romantic comedy rife with crazy in-laws he’s never met. Yet, a startling difference between this movie and Our Family Wedding is the humor based on stereotypical black-and-white comedy dynamic between Chris Rock and french born Julie Delpy doesn’t seem to be brought up, thankfully. It’s more like Woody Allen and nothing like Tyler Perry. Watch the trailer and see for yourself now.

Would You Buy Greeting Cards from Kurt Braunohler?

Photo 2 in the greeting card project. (Ive started a new project involving greeting cards in an attempt to insert absurdity into strangers lives. I go to a pharmacy and buy a bunch of greeting cards. I take them home and sign all of them. I then bring them back and reinsert them on the shelves and leave. If you know anyone who has picked up one of these cards, or just seen one, let me know. Ill be posting these sporadically. NOTE: This card was in the Love section.)

Kurt Braunohler got a bunch of greeting cards and wrote some of what most of us probably wish we could write on said cards. Let’s hope this is a game on Bunk, which you can catch tonight on IFC 10:30PM.

Your Sister’s Sister Comes Out Today

If you’re mind went to a literal place when you read that headline, then you’re welcome for the laugh. The highly anticipated Your Sister’s Sister with Mark Duplass, Emily Blunt, and Rosemarie Dewitt comes out in a couple theaters in LA today. One could call this a cautionary tale romantic comedy of why you don’t mix alcohol, picturesque settings, and siblings. Watch the trailer now.

TJ Miller on Conan, Rory Scovel on Ferguson, and Jack McBrayer at Weiner’s Circle

Uncategorized

On Conan, TJ Miller did a set and closed it out by attempting to eat two Italian Beef sandwiches in less than a minute.

On Ferguson, Rory Scovel did a set sans last minute food challenge.

On one of Conan’s remote pieces, he sent Jack McBrayer to the infamous Weiner’s Circle in Chicago for an “insult off”, of course, with the helping hand… of the guy holding Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

If only Food Network was like the end of TJ’s set and McBrayer’s attempts at being mean to customers…

Jim Gaffigan, Moshe Kasher, and More on Last Call with Carson Daly

June 17, 2012
Uncategorized

Whatever your opinion of Last Call with Carson Daly, these candid interviews are actually pretty great. Unfortunately, they’re posted almost randomly several days after they air so most people forget about them, even if they watched it at 2 in the morning. This shouldn’t be the case as they highlight some of comedy’s up and comers as well as the greats.

For starters there’s this one with Jim Gaffigan during the release of his special Mr. Universe.

Then, there’s a great chat with Michael Ian Black about his book, You’re Not Doing It Right.

Moshe Kasher also talks about his insane childhood in his book, Kasher in the Rye.

There’s even a great profile of 5 Second Films.

It’s a lot to ask for, but try to catch these on air if you can because who knows when they’ll be posted.

What Matt Dwyer Thinks About on Father’s Day

For all of those looking for a funny inspirational video celebrating Father’s Day today, please don’t read further because there’s no such thing here. Instead, this is a great piece entitled “The Dead Dads Club”/a great introduction to the comedy of Matt Dwyer.

Many of my friends and I have dead dads. There were so many of us back in Chicago that, as a joke, we started The Dead Dads Club. We’d even sing ala Fred Schnieder from the B52’s, “Everybody will join…The Dead Dads Club!”
