NBC has really stuck to the recent philosophy posed by their chairman Bob Greenblatt who said that the network had a “very drama-heavy midseason schedule” when asked about selling Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt to Netflix.
Since the early 90s, NBC had their Must See TV comedy block scheduled in stone that saw the likes of Seinfeld, Friends, Will & Grace, The Office, Parks and Recreation, and more air in primetime. Now, as a sign of the times, they have dropped Must See TV altogether and made a comedy block of multi-cam sitcoms Undateable and One Big Happy set for Tues. in 2015.
With this big programming shift, we’d be curious to see what percent of the entire viewing audience of any of NBC’s comedies over the last year watched the show live versus on an online streaming service, legal and illegal, of some kind on their own time.
