Andrew Bujalski Looks to Keep It Delightfully, Quietly Strange with “There There” Trailer

andrew bujalski, there there, trailer

Computer Chess and Support The Girls have arguably put Andrew Bujalski on the map as a preeminent indie filmmaker even though his films are devoid of any sort big premise or pops, bangs, whizzes. The uncanny touch of nuance he has with his stellar casts (it was truly a marvel to see Regina King in something as offbeat as Support The Girls) and how much humor he can draw out of the quieter moments in life is astounding.

His latest film, There There aims to further cement his comedy auteur stamp with conversations between several people through FaceTime/Zoom, presumably because of COVID-19 lockdown. It won’t just be a bunch of floating heads or solo monologues to the camera like HBO’s Coastal Elites, but rather capturing lonesome folks (that just happened to include Jason Schwartzman, Molly Gordon,  and capturing the absurdity/beauty of trying to stay connected to humanity via your laptop’s front facing camera.

Take a gander for yourself with There There‘s official trailer here, then look for its release on Nov. 18th.
