“The Nightly Show” Dedicates Entire 2nd Episode To Addressing Bill Cosby Allegations

Up until now, late night has only joked here and there about the rape and sexual assault allegations against Bill Cosby.

Determined to hit the ground running, Larry Wilmore takes Cosby to task on The Nightly Show, only having premiered just last night, and Wilmore and company stick it to the comedy legend pretty damn well.

Watch the whole episode here.

Also, take note how The Nightly Show is shaping up with a bit of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and Real Time with Bill Maher mixed, but also distinctly its own unique show.

The premiere of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore is just over a month away on Jan. 19th and so promotion of it should be ramping up right about now.

They have just gotten an official logo for the show, as you can see above, that’s a decided departure for The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. It’s minimalist and clean not unlike the logo for another Daily Show alum’s post-Daily Show Daily Show-esque show, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

However, we also think The Nightly Show logo is very reminiscent of another Comedy Central series that dealt with current issues from awhile ago, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. If that somehow means that they were be echoes of that in The Nightly Show, we’re on board.

After “The Minority Report” has been renamed “The Nightly Show”, it has now gotten an official premiere date of Mon. Jan. 19th at 11:30PM following The Daily Show.

Thus, the changing of the late night guard in 2015 begins with Larry Wilmore in mid January, then James Corden following on The Late Late Show set for Mar. 9th, and then Stephen Colbert at The Late Show at a TBD date.

“The Minority Report” with Larry Wilmore Will Now Be Titled “The Nightly Show”

In order to avoid “brand confusion”, Comedy Central’s replacement for The Colbert Report will no longer called The Minority Report with Larry Wilmore.

Rather, it will now be called The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, which is fitting in the sense that it’s following The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and preceding @midnight with Chris Hardwick,

The “brand confusion” supposedly refers to having the show be more about underdogs as opposed to just minorities. However, it also clears up any confusion it would have with Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report from 2002.
