Adult Swim Orders a Pilot of Vernon Chatman’s “The Shivering Truth”, a Stop-Motion ‘Dark Surreal Anthology Comedy’

Given Chatman’s resume of South Park, Louie, Wonder Showzen, and The Heart She Holler, and an eclectic mix of many facets of comedy, one has to wonder if this project is the culmination of all of Chatman’s previous work.

What we imagine, at this stage, is a stop motion animation, probably like Anomalisa, take on Edgar Allen Poe with the darkly comic twist of Damian Szifron’s Wild Tales.

If anything like that comes out of the pilot process into being a show on Adult Swim, we’re on board.

Bill Murray Will Be in Wes Anderson’s Stop Motion Animation Dog Movie Because It Would Be a Little Weird If He Wasn’t, Right?

Per usual, Wes Anderson is rounding up his usual suspects of Hollywood’s most celebrated.

Already, Bryan Cranston, Jeff Goldblum, Bob Balaban, and Edward Norton are in Wes Anderson’s latest film, which will be made with stop motion animation and focused in on dogs. If that wasn’t already alluring enough to the Wes Anderson faithful, Bill Murray will be a voicing dog in a story that Murray describes as “Japanese”.

At this point, we’d wager that Wes wouldn’t have to make a trailer for people to see this movie.

It’s been far too long since we’ve seen some of Charlie Kaufman’s work on the big screen (2008 to be exact) and it’s been a long time coming since we saw Kaufman’s latest movie, Anomalisa, get a nice chunk of change on Kickstarter.

After heaps and heaps of praise at festivals, there’s a full trailer that you can and should watch now. It’ll probably change the way you view stop motion animation from now on.

Look for Anomalisa in limited release on Dec. 30th, then wider release come January 2016.

The specifics of Wes Anderson’s next film don’t go beyond stop-motion animation dogs. However, the notion that Anderson is heading into territory that most people probably just associate with Gromit from Wallace & Gromit is pretty enticing.

Get ready for what might be the most adorable and whimsical representation of dogs that has ever been.
