It seems fitting that the stars of Documentary Now! would get an award from The Smithsonian.

The Smithsonian Institution has their own eponymous magazine that annual gives out awards in several categories, many which line up with a corresponding Smithsonian museum in Washington D.C.

Both Fred Armisen and Bill Hader will be receiving the honor of the American Ingenuity Award for Documentary Now!, which is definitely one of the most innovative, high concept shows to come around in some time.

Hopefully, Armisen and Hader will attend and do some sort of Documentary Now! bit.

As promised, the new GeorgeCarlin.com is a virtual Carlin museum.

On top of that, the legendary George Carlin is getting a portrait of him placed in the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery’s “Recognize” space.

Between the two, you can take note of how important Carlin was, is, and will still be to political and cultural discourse as well as look at galleries of personal pictures, performance clips (including some that are taken from performances that got him arrested), and animated shorts.

Whether you were around for Carlin’s lengthy, historic career or not, take some time to look around.
