Despite a major casting change and a shift to an hour long format, Cameron Crowe’s Roadies is going to see the light of a slot on Showtime’s programming schedule.

It seems like it has been quite awhile since Crowe embarked on making a TV show even though it has only been a year since it was announced that he was doing a comedy based on the lives of ‘roadies’ at Showtime.

Now, Carla Gugino will fill in the lead role originally occupied by Christina Hendricks and the show itself will be an hour long workplace-ish comedy that sees big rock concerts through the eyes of those literally setting the stage.

We’ll get to see exactly what Crowe has cooked up in 2016.

Cameron Crowe’s Showtime comedy pilot “Roadies” has just locked its cast. Luke Wilson, who had an excellent turn in Skeleton Twins this year,  Imogen Poots, Keisha Castle-Hughes, and Peter Cambor will all play a touring rock band’s road crew making for a sort-of workplace comedy set behind-the-scenes at a rock concert.

Roadies definitely seems like the perfect bridge for Crowe to get into TV and we can’t wait to hear the soundtrack he has in store for us.

Showtime Orders ‘Roadies’ Comedy Pilot From Cameron Crowe, Winnie Holzman & J.J. Abrams

Showtime has now ordered the pilot of the Cameron Crowe rock concert comedy project known as Roadies that will be produced by J.J. Abrams and Winnie Holzman.

There’s still no word on casting, but with these names attached already on the project, as we stated before, Roadies will probably have a more than noteworthy cast.
