It’s good to see that one of the best dark comedies this year in any language took home a bunch of statuettes at a least one awards ceremony.

Hailing from Argentina, one of the best films we saw this year was Wild Tales from Damian Szifron. The balance between being unapologetically dark and absurdly hysterical is so wonderful throughout the handful of stories thematically connected in the film.

The Platino Awards honors achievement in Ibero-American film spanning 13 categories, 8 of which were won by Wild Tales. This sweep included awards for best film, best director, and best screenplay.

Hopefully, this will spell out more good things to come from Szifron in the not so distant future.
