Please Enjoy Amy Poehler and Tina Fey’s Full Opening Monologue from 2021 Golden Globes

Honestly, bandying over the winners of The Golden Globes is a fool’s errand (though it’s nice that an actual comedy got awards in the comedy & or musical category with Borat Subsequent Moviefilm).

The highlight here is awards hosting power duo, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, returning to one of the gigs they were clearly anointed to do, The Golden Globes. Fey and Poehler together balance the right amount of bits, jabs at the HFPA, and asides about the nominees to carry on their celebrated legacy of presiding over the evening’s events.

Interestingly, the very limited in-person audience were all first responders and essential workers, which means you can hear the laughs more clearly and heartily as opposed to it being lost in a sea of celebrities in a gigantic ball room or theater.

Truly, Fey and Poehler should just have a whole special dedicated to hosting awards shows.

Watch and enjoy their 2021 Golden Globes Opening Monologue here.

Peyton Manning continues to uphold his reputation as one of the most comedically reliable in all of professional sports.

He’s been a surprisingly good host on SNL and, just this past week, offered up a very solid opening monologue for this year’s ESPYS. There are some good burns as well as few slightly meta threads throughout that we’d guess that almost all pro athletes couldn’t get through in the tightly crafted 10 minutes.

See for yourself here.

Like with so many things that they deconstruct with goofy abandon, John Mulaney and Nick Kroll dove into their opening monologue for last night’s Spirit Awards with the same freewheeling, devil-may-care spirit.

You’ll notice that they pick apart the idea of an awards show monologue, trope by trope, while effortlessly going through actual jokes and then closing with a particularly spectacular finish.

Watch it all here.
