HBO has had success with taking 2 Dope Queens and making specials out of it. 

So, it stands to reason that they’d explore the vast, untapped podcast space for another HBO original production.

The very popular My Dad Wrote a Porno where, as you might expect, the hosts read erotica written by a dad of theirs and riff on it while doing so will be HBO’s latest comedy special offering.

This will also be a special that probably feature little to no stand-up, which just might be an upcoming trend given the impact of atypical specials Nanette and Drew Michael.

If this ends up paying off, HBO might regain some of their comedy special credibility back in the wake of Netflix’s attempt to dominate in that space.
