Wedding season is upon us and, despite everything, we’re pretty sure that most folks that put their wedding on hold because of COVID-19 are now getting hitched this year (even though COVID-19 hasn’t been eradicated).

As such, you shouldn’t miss the show dedicated to one of the major cornerstones of any wedding, the speeches. The endlessly imaginative Tim Platt started putting together a very special evening of wedding speeches delivered to a comedy couple by a bunch of comedians, sometimes in character and sometimes not, and it’s more fun than nearly every wedding we’ve ever been witness to.

Tim’s latest edition of A Night of Wedding Speeches will be happening at Brooklyn Comedy Collective on Fri. Jun. 3rd at 8:30PM ET with an astounding wedding party of Joe Castle Baker, Eudora Peterson, Ike Ufomadu, Sarah Wilson, Karolena Theresa, Peter Mills Weiss, real life married comedy couple Alise Morales & Danny Groh, and, of course, Best Man Tim Platt.

Tickets are only $15 and you really ought to snag your tickets/save the date here.

If you’ve read the news in any of the time that, frankly, you’ve been alive, you probably felt lost, beset with how much hurt and violence there is in the world. Just this past weekend, there was so much gun violence across the country that it’s hard to parse how many people got shot up where in America and when exactly that happened.

That said, there are still good folks in the world putting care and concern out for other people. Some of the people work at the Brooklyn Free Clinic, a student run free clinic that boosts health care access through the borough via “service and education” by way of SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

In Stitches is a big time fundraiser to be held at Brooklyn’s venerable comedy venue, The Bell House, on Sat. May 21st at 2:30PM ET (w/ 1:30PM ET cocktail hour/silent auction) that seeks to support their truly selfless efforts and the good roots they plant in and throughout their borough. NYC comedy finest in Mary Beth Barone, Brittany Carney, Rachel Coster, Jes Tom, Ike Ufomadu, Garrett Williams, Jo Firestone & Aparna Nancherla, and host Jared Waters will be assemble for this edition of In Stitches.

Admission for In Stitches starts at $15 for students, $20 for GA, then goes up from there if you want to support the Brooklyn Free Clinic even more (and gets some great swag while you’re at it).

Get tickets, more details, etc. here.

It you’re looking for beacons of hope in comedy, one of the brightest of them is none other than than Josh Gondelman. Not only does his award winning comedy (he just snagged a WGA Award for his work on Desus & Mero) bring light and joy through his clever attention to detail, but he has repeatedly put his comedy out there in service of worthy causes.

As of late, he has been the host and face of a monthly comedy live-stream Looking Forward To It that is specifically dedicated to voter engagement past this most recent general election here in the U.S. This particular month is special as Gondelman along with a fantastic line-up of Ike Ufomadu, Aparna Nancherla, Josh Sharp, Jenny Yang, and a video by Dan Fox & Desi Domo will be raising money for Asian Americans Advancing Justice (it’s still a pretty important issue, FYI).

This lovely edition of Looking Forward to It is set for Sat. Apr. 3rd at 5PM PT/8PM ET. Tickets/access are available via a donation ($20 suggested).
