Pick of the Day: AND THE OSCAR GOES TO… (in NYC) 3/14

The Oscars are less than a week away and don’t be surprised if things are way more buttoned down compared to what might be one of the most infamous Oscars of all time with Will Smith slapping Chris Rock in the middle of the telecast just a year ago. Suffice it to say that there should be almost no surprises (especially with Everything Everywhere All at Once sweeping the awards season this year).

So, to make the Oscars more fun Nikki Palumbo, Ilana Michelle Rubin, and producer Adam Gold are assembling dozens of NYC comedy’s finest to do their own acceptance speeches (and probably find a fun way to contend with getting played off) for what they’re calling And The Oscar Goes To…. Thus far, the folks slated to accept a fictional Oscar (or practice for the future) will be:

Chanel Ali
Jenny Arimoto
Charlie Bardey
Michelle Chan Bennett
Lauren Brickman
Justin Catchens
Neil D’Astolfo
Alon Elian
Emily Evans
Brandon Follick
Matt Friend
Devin Gant
Alex Iona
Luisa Lange
Glennis LaRoe
Gara Lonning
Alise Morales
Mila Myles
Charlie O’Connor
Nikki Palumbo
Richard Perez
Reid Pope
Kathryn Margaret Rose
Jesse Roth
Ilana Michelle Rubin
Sami Schwaeber
Kate Sisk
Karolena Theresa
Shenuque Tessera
Jeff Wright
Sabrina Wu

Also, you won’t have to worry about whether to watch The Oscars or And The Oscar Goes To… as this will happen well after the last afterparty wraps and the winner of your Oscar betting pool is done gloating on Tues. Mar. 14th at 8PM at Littlefield in Brooklyn.

Tickets are $15.54 right now and you can (and should) get them here.

Recently: The Oscars happened much to a bore with mostly dull speeches and several failed attempts at humor/entertainment, proving once again, that it should be a private party and not televised for the confused, out-of-context viewing public.  That is, unless someone’s acceptance speech was more unhinged and freewheeling like the brilliant James Adomian as Orson Welles merely trying to plug a wine.  It’s kind of like Mickey Rourke any time that he wins an award anywhere.  That’s how acceptance speeches should be.
