Curb Your Enthusiasm in a Podcast for First Episode of In Conversation with Jeff Garlin

Larry David is Jeff Garlin’s first guest for his newly minted podcast By The Way, In Conversation with Jeff Garlin joining the ever burgeoning Earwolf family of podcasts. There’s plenty of these recorded at Largo, which includes some big guests, so keep a lookout for episodes in the future.

Following their foray into TV production, 2013 is turning out to be an exciting year for Earwolf.

The Tonight Show Gets A Little Edgy With Anthony Jeselnik

January 11, 2013
Uncategorized

In a somewhat surprising move, Anthony Jeselnik appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night to do a set of exactly the humor that Anthony Jeselnik does. Perhaps, this is a reaction to Kimmel moving up to the same time slot, but, either way, we’re hoping to see more “tone-breaking” things like this happen on The Tonight Show like calling it a “lame version of American Idol”.

Watch his set now.

Hannibal Buress Performs His Rap Song “Gibberish Rap” Live with Ballet Dancers

January 11, 2013
Uncategorized

At a recent performance in the Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh, NC, Hannibal Buress brought out what should be a hip hop single that should sweep the nation, “Gibberish Rap”. Also, he felt that there should be ballet dancers between the DJ, his hype man, and himself.

If this doesn’t make your Friday even a little better, you’re beyond our help right now. Watch it whether you’re at work or not.

Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Gives Tribute to 30 Rock

Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Krakowski all sat together once more on Fallon last night for a heartfelt reminiscing of 30 Rock. Even Tracy takes a brief moment from saying who his father is to share some tender memories after making out with everyone at the wrap party.

CBS Greenlights Jim Gaffigan Family Sitcom to Pilot

Please realize this will be the first TV series starring Jim Gaffigan, which, in our opinion, is long overdue. We really hope that this series co-created with Peter Tolan gets picked up to series if only to see Gaffigan be funny on television more often.

Fox Has Paul Feig Developing Comedies While Tina Fey Pushes Ahead With New Projects at NBC

January 12, 2013
Uncategorized

In what is seeming like a sort of changing of the guard yet again, broadcast networks are resorting to many interesting moves, development wise, over the last few months.

Just recently, Tina Fey is pushing forward with her multi-year development deal at NBC by developing a show with 30 Rock producing partner Robert Carlock. Fox has given a similar comedy development deal to Bridesmaids’ director Paul Feig.

Considering Fey disagrees with NBC’s new attitude of “broad comedy” and the juxtaposition of Fox’s ADHD along with their live action comedies, some of which we will assume Feig will be creating, this will definitely be an intriguing year for what comes from the broadcast network as well as cable.

Nick Kroll Has Now Told a Pantsing and Shitting Stories on Late Night Television

James Urbaniak Reads Aloud Dave Hill’s Erotic (Twitter) Short Stories

January 12, 2013

Dave Hill has just been on a comedy tear with writing his Erotic Short Stories on Twitter (that’s right, absurd erotica in 140 characters or less).

Adding to that delight, one James Urbaniak lended his dulcet voice to narrate said short stories on his Soundcloud page to make your Saturday afternoon all the more enjoyable (i.e. we hope more of these come out).

Josh Fadem’s Comedy Show in a Video Store Is Back and Bi-Weekly

Josh Fadem’s Comedy Show in a Video Store Is Back and Bi-Weekly

Hey Westside LA, more comedy is coming to you this year and in the form of one of our favorite things of 2012 (see this list), Josh Fadem’s Comedy at Cinefile Show. Last year, we got to see Hannibal Buress, Sean Patton, Wendy Liebman in a video store because of this, so we’re thrilled to hear it’s coming back regularly.

If you’re not familiar, it’s absolutely what you think it is: a comedy show in one of the few video rental stores left in LA, run by a guy who loves doing pratfalls. It’s free and the first one is on Thurs. 1/31 9:30PM, so set your reminders (that’s what we say in 2013 instead of mark your calendars, right?).

Harland Williams Does Stand-Up “Once Upon a Time in the West” Style For His Latest Special

Whether you know or not, you’ve been waiting for a new comedy special from the one and only Harland Williams. Also along those lines, you’ve been also desperately waiting for a comedy special to be done in the desert with no audience save for a turtle that’s not facing you.

Well, you’re somehow fantastically in luck because Harland Williams new stand-up special “Force of Nature” is just that and comes out this Tues. Jan. 15th. Watch the preview that, again, you didn’t know you were waiting for, but totally were because it’s awesome.

At the very least, check Twitter during The Golden Globes as we’re sure that the 140 characters commentary might just be as fun as the telecast.

Nicely Done, Tina Fey & Amy Poehler’s Opening Monologue at The Golden Globes

January 14, 2013
Uncategorized

When it comes to award show monologues, a fine line has to be walked between making jokes that they honorees and their guests will laugh at as well as something that’s entertaining for the folks at home.

More often than not, that line is hardly walked and hosts clearly define what side their on by the jokes they tell, but Tina Fey and Amy Poehler did quite a nice job last night at the Golden Globes with their opening monologue without really ruffling anybody’s feathers on either side of the TV.

Give it a watch now.

From South Park to Book of Mormon, Trey Parker and Matt Stone Are Starting Important Studios

Listen to Sean Green Do 30 Min. In Front of The Steel Stacks in Bethlehem, PA

January 14, 2013
Uncategorized

A round of applause should be given to comedian/writer/podcaster Sean Green for self-distributing his second comedy album, let alone being as funny as he is (see: The Comedy Garage). Over a year ago he put out, Whiskey Dick, which was a great album as he had to fight a hometown crowd to tell his own jokes.

This time, he does 30 minutes in front of The Steel Stacks in Live From Steel Stacks and you can download it completely for free, which, if you haven’t guessed already, we’re suggesting you do.

Both have incredible insight and funny takes into everything, really, and we’re really excited to see and hear this is happening, titled or untitled.

This Better Be Funny Ep. 57 with Sara Benincasa

This Better Be Funny this week is with Sara Benincasa!

Jake and Jeremy AKA Savory Johnson and guest Sara Benincasa (author of Agorafabulous) somehow find themselves at crossroads in conversation between children political refugees, Prince, tasteless non-jokes referencing famous baseball players, Destiny’s Child, and Star Wars without getting off topic. They also threw religion jokes into the mix there too and managed to eat breakfast at dinner time while being pretty lighthearted and non-offensive through the whole thing. Pretty impressive if you ask me (i.e. you should give it a listen ASAP).
