Comedy Bang Bang Line-Ups Over the Last 10 Years

December 5, 2012
Uncategorized

Above is the line-up of the very last Comedy Bang Bang ever, specifically their annual Nativity Pageant show at the Montalban Theater. Yesterday, hours before the show started, the man behind CBB, Scott Aukerman, posted line-ups over the past 10 years of the live show on his blog.

It’s a pretty fascinating walk through comedy history, especially in LA that you should take a look at right now because you might recognize or name two.

Also, see Joe DeRosa get into a straight up shouting match for the preview of next week’s episode.

Cinefamily, Home to Doug Benson’s Movie Interruption, Everything Is Terrible, The Greg Proops Film Club, and More Needs Your Help

December 5, 2012

Cinefamily, specifically in this case, the Silent Movie Theatre, is one of the city’s most unique movie theaters. They are, by trade, a revival theater, but do such more as Doug Benson, Greg Proops, Dan Harmon, Rob Schrab, Jon Glaser, Wayne Federman, Reggie Watts, Paul F. Tompkins, TJ Miller and way, way more do amazing, hilarious shows, screenings, etc. there on a regular basis.

They need a little help with a new projector and restoring their theater, so if you could donate to their Kickstarter, that’d be great.

Eric Andre of The Eric Andre Show and Don’t Trust the B in Apt. 23 will do anything for the big laugh anytime, especially while on a talk show, including derailing an interview with guest host Michael Kosta, mistake the co-hosts’ names, and getting completely naked.

Watch him do exactly that and more on Attack of the Show.

It Doesn’t Matter If Albert Brooks Completely Lies About His Stories on Letterman, They’re Still Great

December 6, 2012
Uncategorized

In sort of a revolutionary move in the history of late night panel guests, Albert Brooks first pulled the curtain back during his appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman revealing that segments are produced. Then, he admitted that all the stories he was about to tell, conveniently outlined on cards in front of Letterman, were all fabricated.

None of that really mattered, as it was all still really damn funny. Here’s Brooks’ Walmart gun and Amazon stories.

Would You Read News If It Was in Comic Strip Form?

At first, it might sound almost condescending that we’re at a point in society/popular culture that we have to dumb down important news into the form of an entertaining comic strip, but take a look at what this start up Symbolia is doing and it’s not that at all. Informative, brief, and, seemingly perfect for the Internet, there is potential here and if it was funnier/more clever, it could be big.

Also, plenty of journalists could take a cue from this on how to get to the meat of a story.

Silicon Valley Set to Be Satirized by Mike Judge and Scott Rudin at HBO

Definitely keep an eye out for this.

Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu, Director of ’21 Grams’ and ‘Babel’, to Do a Comedy

Surely, when enough time passes Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu will be heavily featured in the Criterion Collection for his engrossing and moving dramas. But, the Mexican director is now set to do a comedy that might be a kind of a cross between The Incredibles and Waiting for Guffman.

This will definitely be interesting to watch like if Barton Fink had to write a superhero movie and then it was getting greenlit.
