In satirizing the real Silicon Valley as much as they can, HBO’s Silicon Valley (in the same spirit as the faux sites for the characters of Veep) has extended their fictional world further into the real world with a Hoolicon event, complete with a site and registration page allowing for you to sign up.
Of course, Hoolicon is a big event along the lines of something like WWDC put on by Pied Piper’s nemesis, Hooli. If you like up the address, you’ll find that it’s on the campus of Cal State LA, which conveniently looks nothing like the screen grab of the landing page above. Also, we love Hooli CEO Gavin Belson’s quote in the about us page, “I don’t want to live in a world where someone else makes the world a better place better than we do.“
The cost of actually “registering” is several hundred dollars. We don’t have the sort of wallet to see how fun that part of the Hoolicon rabbit hole is, but we appreciate the attention to detail.
See all of this for yourself at the Hoolicon page here.
