For all the gripes that people have justifiably had about romantic comedies over the last, let’s face it, decades, there is still an undeniable attraction and desire to see an unlikely couple come together, no matter how cheesy it might be. There is, with that in mind, still plenty of gold to be mined from rom coms.
Cue Billy Eichner and Nicholas Stoller‘s Bros, which has been billed as the first big all gay R-rated rom com from a major studio. While a more genuine, raunchy gay rom com has been due for a long time (unlike the very family friendly Single All the Way on Netflix), Bros sees that and raises us all the sharp the razor sharp comedic minds behind Difficult People and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Just take a gander for yourself in the trailer and know that we’re more un-ironically excited for Bros than we’ve been for a romantic comedy in a long, long, very long time. We won’t be surprised if this is the sort of long-standing, quotable rom com that people talk about like they did Bridesmaids.
Then, mark down Sept. 30th on your phone for Bros‘ release date so you can buy tickets in advance.
