The Comedy Bureau Field Report Ep. 48: Symone Baptiste & Reparations (with People Telling Their Own Stories)

Filmmaker and comedy booker Symone Baptiste has had a great run with her short film, Sixteen Thousand Dollars in the past year going through all sorts of film festivals, done virtually of course. The short hits on the crucial topic of reparations for black people that the U.S. government seems like they’re barely willing to entertain, much less actually go through with. Going further with that idea, Symone dives into the importance of people getting to tell their own stories as opposed to just white people doing it. Also, “hot” takes on Spotify’s global expansion and the upcoming premiere of Showtime’s Ziwe.

NOTE: If you are able to catch Symone out in public when we can all gather safely again and she is wearing jeans (AKA hard pants), she will pay you money.
