Here’s a Little More of a Preview for SXSW 2014 Comedy
The Green Room with Paul Provenza, Doug Benson Movie Interruption, Set List, Smartest Man in The World with Greg Proops, Comedy Bang! Bang!, ASSSSCAT w/Jeffrey Tambor, and more are just scratching the surface of what SXSW will have for comedy this year in addition to the screenings and panels that have been announced.
Harmontown Documentary To Have World Premiere at SXSW
Dan Harmon not only started a podcast where he largely just did what he wanted, he got to tour with a tour bus and make a documentary about it.
That podcast is Harmontown and the documentary following their nationwide tour will premiere at SXSW this year. Yet, another great reason to see the comedy at SXSW in a couple of months.
Neighbors, Mike Judge’s Silicon Valley, and Grand Budapest Hotel All Playing at SXSW
You’ll probably want catch Neighbors with Seth Rogen, Mike Judge’s Silicon Valley premiering on HBO or Wes Anderson’s latest Grand Budapest Hotel or maybe all three of these if you happen to be at SXSW this year.
SXSW To Have Panels with Seth Meyers, Portlandia, Pete Holmes, and More
The soon to be newly minted Late Night with Seth Meyers as well as the still brand spanking new Pete Holmes Show as well as Portlandia will all be making an appearance at SXSW this year in panel form.
That means that this is only the tip of the iceberg and you should probably get a badge ASAP before this happens in March.
Jimmy Kimmel Live Going to SXSW
This might be the first time that a late night talk show visits a big time festival for a week of shows. Well, we’re glad that Jimmy Kimmel Live is taping a week of shows at SXSW and we have a feeling that Kimmel is going to pull out all the stops for fake band names and asking if SXSW goers have seen them.
Marc Maron Throws Knives While Being Interviewed by Chris Gethard
Chris Gethard interviews Marc Maron while at SXSW about his show and Maron. Also, they throw knives and Marc says, “I can’t think of a better metaphor for impotence than whatever’s happening.’

Magnet Acquires Horror Comedy ‘Milo’ Starring Ken Marino
This just means we’re one step closer to seeing Ken Marino in a horror comedy or just Ken Marino, in general, on the big screen (remember how great he was in Wanderlust?)
Also, Gillian Jacobs and Stephen Root are also in the cast if all that isn’t enough for you.
It’s streaming right now possibly as you read this, Daylight Savings Time accounted for, so watch JASH do their first appearance together on a live episode of Comedy Bang Bang.
In a new collaborative effort wherein the comedians have full creative autonomy, JASH has brought together the likes of Sarah Silverman, Reggie Watts, Michael Cera, and the duo of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim to do kind of whatever they want to do with online videos and more.
This Sunday JASH will be doing a Reddit AMA, launching their first video, be guests at a special live episode of Comedy Bang Bang at SXSW which you can stream live here 10 AM PST, and doing a panel of their own also at SXSW.
So, yeah, this might be pretty big, awesome, and hilarious.
1) CBS Sketch Diversity Showcase is taking submissions until Thurs. Sept. 22nd. Must be SAG, “primarily focused on African-American, Asian-American, Middle Eastern, Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander, LGBT actors, senior performers and performers with disabilities”, and able to perform and rehearse in LA.
2) The Comedy Garage Documentary gets reviewed by Film Threat.
3) “Telescope” by Uncle Mom-is not a song on KCRW’s rotation, but a hilarious new sketch from Shawn Pearlman, Zach Paez, and Payman Benz.

4) Reportedly, more open mics have opened up in the South Bay for comedy. The Comic Bug will start a comedy open mic on Thurs. Sept. 29th and Club 705 has expanded from Monday night to both Monday and Tuesday night. More details to come.
5) So you’ve got a couple of options for the Emmys tonight, following Witstream, @laughspincom, or just catching up on episodes of Louie.
6) The opposite of John Oliver’s New York Stand-Up Show coming to Comedy Central next month.
