From the Looks of This Trailer, “Better Things” Is Going to Make a Triumphant Return with Season 4

better things, fx, pamela adlon, season 4, trailer

All things considered, Better Things is not only the vulnerable, gritty story of a single mom attempting to live her best life with a boatload of kids that has garnered plenty of acclaim over three seasons. The story of the series itself is also one of a gritty struggle with Adlon making the best series that she can from the get go, as both the lead and co-creator, then having to deal with the other co-creator, Louis C.K., and his #MeToo fallout while keeping the show at such a high level.

It really is a triumphant dramedy in so many different ways and season 4 certainly maintains that feeling despite presenting Pamela’s Sam with a whole new set of challenges with dating apps, dream cars, etc.

See for yourself in the Better Things Season 4 trailer here, then look for it it premiere on Mar. 5th on FX.

Better Things Season 3 Trailer Really Seems to Offer Better Things (On TV) Come This February

A lot has happened between season two and the upcoming season three with Better Things considering Louis C.K.’s involvement with the show and what has happened to him within that time (i.e. his fall from grace and losing almost every project he was working on).

Despite all of that, Pamela Adlon is marching on very confidently with the show and it seems from the trailer that she’s offering up a very promising third season that will follow a critically acclaimed second season.

See for yourself in this very enjoyable S3 trailer here, then look for Better Things’ S3 premiere on FX on Thurs., Feb. 28th.

Tonight, FX resumes their run as one of the most critically acclaimed basic cable networks ever, especially when it comes to comedy (Louie, Better Things, Baskets, Atlanta).

Season 2 of Better Things premieres tonight at 10PM at FX.

Pamela Adlon Has More Chaos in Store for “Better Things” According to Season 2 Trailer

Whether or not you want to think of Better Things as a “spiritual spin-off” of Louie, it’s part of FX having a prestige line-up of comedy that keeps them being recognized more like a premium cable network rather than a basic one and, for that, you should be watching it.

The trailer for season 2 just dropped and things definitely get ramped up for Sam (Pamela Adlon) on all fronts.

See for yourself here.

Season 2 of Better Things premieres Thursday, September 14th on FX.

The Hollywood Reporter always does a great job with these big roundtable discussions and this go around is no different.

They did probably more than an hour of discussion that was only slightly cut down between Kathryn Hahn, Issa Rae, Pamela Adlon, Emmy Rossum, Minnie Driver, and America Ferrera, for the comedy actresses, and William H. Macy, Kumail Nanjiani, Anthony Anderson, Ted Danson, Kevin Bacon, and Brian Tyree Henry, for the comedy actors.

It’s fascinating conversation that spans the current deconstruction of inherent expectations within female roles all the way to Kevin Bacon’s feeling on Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.

Watch them here and here, respectively.

Right now, FX is flying pretty high with all the honors and praise that they’ve garnered for Atlanta and The Americans.

With new seasons of You’re The Worst on FXx and Better Things on FX on deck, we’re confident that they’ll keep that high flying feeling going.

So, mark down September 6th, a Wednesday, and the 14th, a Thursday, to catch new seasons of each show, both critically acclaimed in their own right we might add.

The gigantic (but maybe not on the scale of billions and billions) line-up for the 16th Annual SF Sketchfest has just been announced. This flyer is just scratching the surface of how many great performers are on the bill.

In fact, there are currently over 700 performers that will be in more than 230 shows at 17 different venues over the course of 2 and a half weeks. Even if you’re not in or around San Francisco, it might be worth it to trek to SF to see what’s happening.

SF Sketchfest is set for January 12th-29th, 2017 and you can get tickets right now right here.

FX Renews Atlanta and Better Things for Their Second Seasons

FX heard how much you like Donald Glover’s Atlanta and Pamela Adlon’s Better Things.

Just a couple of weeks in and FX has seen ratings and the great critical reception and has just ordered up another season of both Atlanta and Better Things. With a strong showing at this year’s Emmys, FX is only looking to be a stronger network to contend with than it already is.

Better Things star and co-creator Pamela Adlon has got a lot of buzz built around her series premiering next week.

In this first look, she gives a tour of sorts as to what to expect from what seems simultaneously like the spiritual successor to Louie and it’s own separate, very personal show.

Look for the series premiere of Better Things on Thursday, September 8th on FX.

‘Better Things’ Sheds Some Light on Characters and Plot at TCA Panel

Notably, Pamela Adlon will be playing a single mom/working actress named Sam, which means she’s a completely different working single mom than the one on Louie just named Pamela.

From what we’ve seen so far, Better Things does look like a spiritual sequel to Louie and Adlon added that “I feel that everything is funny in my life and there is a lot of funny in the darkness…I don’t like anything that’s dark without heart.”

The much anticipated Better Things coming to FX finally has its first full trailer.

Arguably, it’s what you should be looking forward to if you wanted to see more Louie as Pamela Adlon, who played Louie’s on-again-off-again love interest, stars in this series that looks for a similar dramedic, Louie-esque tone.

Look for the series to premiere on Thursday, September 8th.

Pamela Adlon/Louis CK Series “Better Things” to Premiere on September 8th

(via Deadline)

For those missing Louie, we’re going to guess this is what you should be looking forward to next.

Better Things will follow Pamela as an actress and mother in an semi-autobiographical way, similar to how Louie kind of followed Louis CK’s life as a comedian and a father. It’s set to premiere on FX on Thursday, September 8th.

As it’s following the life of Adlon specifically, we’re guessing that the Pamela on Better Things is a different than the Pamela she played in Louie. However, don’t be surprised if there is a bit of crossover, even as a joke to poke fun at the idea of a “crossover” episode.

It’s going to be called “TV’s Funniest Animated Stars: A Paley Center for Media Special”

Mickey Mouse to SpongeBob SquarePants to The Simpsons and several other legendary cartoon characters will be the focus of a Fox TV special put together by The Paley Center for Media. The likes of H. Jon Benjamin, Nancy Cartwright, Mike Judge, Seth Green, Pamela Adlon, Tom Kenny, Yeardley Smith, and more will chat about their various animated characters that they’ve helped put on the map.

Hopefully, they’ll do some sort of bit with some of the characters like Human Giant did all those years ago with t-shirt cannons.

FX Orders “Better Things” From Pamela Adlon and Louis C.K. to Series

(via Deadline)

This is the third series that C.K. will have going on the network.

While not an actual spin-off, Better Things will follow Pamela Adlon as someone not named Pamela in the same sort of way that Louie follows C.K. though Adlon’s occupation will be acting.

With Louie, the upcoming Baskets starring Zach Galifianakis, and now Better Things, FX could have almost have Adult-Swim-like-programming block for CK produced shows.

FX Getting a Louis C.K. Special and a Pamela Adlon Pilot

(via The Hollywood Reporter)

With FX’s very successful partnership with Louis C.K., it only makes sense that they’re continuing to double down on projects with him.

Already, they’ve ordered “Baskets” to series that has Zach Galifianakis going to pursue his dreams of being a clown.

Now, they’re going to get to show his latest stand-up special and have him also direct a comedy pilot starring Pamela Adlon. The pilot “Better Things” sounds like it will pair quite well with Louie since it follows a single mother/actress dealing with three daughters and, maybe, sex and also has Adlon who plays one of the few actually recurring characters on Louie.

We will be looking forward to all of this.
