Amazon Orders Tig Notaro’s “One Mississippi”, “Highston” with Chris Parnell and Mary Lynn Rajskub, and “Z: The Beginning of Everything” to Series and Renews “Red Oaks”

(via Deadline)

Just like Netflix has upped their content orders for next years, Amazon is smartly following suit.

Today, Amazon boosted up their upcoming comedy offering by not only renewing their 80s coming-of-age comedy, Red Oaks, from David Gordon Green, but ordered three of their comedy pilots to series.

One, Highston, has Chris Parnell and Marry Lynn Rajskub as parents to a kid played by Lewis Pullman who has celebrity friends that only he can see. The second one, One Mississippi is the high profile dramedy series based on the life of Tig Notaro with involvement from Louis C.K. and Diablo Cody. The third and final series ordered today was, Z: The Beginning of Everything, a comedy based on the whirlwind-turned-tornado of a romance between Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald and legendary author F. Scott Fitzgerald. Christina Ricci is set to lead and the series is written by Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin, both from The Killing, and directed by Tim Blake Nelson that you probably saw years ago in O Brother, Where Art Thou?

All in all, this new batch of comedy series that Amazon has will be very intriguing to see in how it stacks up to releases from Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming services.

These Latest Promos for FX’s “Baskets” Will Make You Somehow Want to See Baskets More

Uncategorized
baskets, fx, louis ck, zach galifianakis

Well before any image of Baskets came out, the Louis C.K. and Zach Galifianakis series that follows a man trying to become a highly respected clown was already set as one of the most highly anticipated comedy series to come out next year.

Now that we’re seeing some promos roll out, it’s even more enticing than whatever we were imagining and, though we already really wanted to see it, we somewhat inexplicably really want to see it.

Just watch these latest promos and you’ll be right there with us, itching for the premiere.

Keep in mind that you’ll be itching until Jan. 21st, Baskets’ premiere date.

The Pilot for Tig Notaro’s “One Mississippi” Is Now on Amazon

Per Amazon’s pilot process, you can and should watch it right now for free.

The comedy pilot that not only is based on Tig Notaro’s life, but also has Louis C.K. and Diablo Cody attached as producers, is now available for you to watch and supposedly rate, so it gets picked up to series at Amazon.

So, of the things you’re watching today, definitely make One Mississippi one of them right here.

Steven Wright Talks Shop, Specifically Consulting on “Louie” with Seth Meyers

With Craig Ferguson no longer behind a late night talk show desk, Steven Wright won’t get to out-weird Craig while doing something like reading e-mails like he used to do all the time.

However, Wright is still willing to chat, perhaps in a less bit-based conversation, on late night and did so with Seth Meyers this week.

Watch Steven get into his comedic process as well as explaining what he exactly does on Louie with Louis C.K.

These Five “Baskets” Promos Could Add Up to a Teaser

October 21, 2015
Uncategorized
baskets, fx, jonathan krisel, louis ck, zach galifianakis

At around 16 seconds each, these 5 promos for FX’s latest comedy, Baskets, following a man determined to be a clown from Zach Galifianakis, Louis C.K., and Jonathan Krisel add up to well over a minute, which is about the length of a teaser for a TV show or movie.

So, if you watch this…

…this…

…this…

…this…

…and this in a row, you got as much bang for your buck as you would had they all been intercut together.

Also, you should watch them regardless of them being short promos because they’re pretty damn funny.

Look for Baskets to premiere in January on FX.

SNL 40th Anniversary, Transparent, and More Win at 2015 Creative Arts Emmys

There are a lot of awards given out for The Primetime Emmys and so a good deal of them, for categories such as production design or casting, are handed out well before the telecast.

However, more notable categories like Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special, which went to Louis C.K., and Outstanding Interactive Program, which went to Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, are also among these Creative Arts Emmys.

The SNL 40th Anniversary Special happen to take home four of these Emmys and Transparent took three.

@midnight, Louie, Transparent, SNL and the SNL 40th, The Colbert Report, Drunk History, Mike & Molly, Silicon Valley, Portlandia, Inside Amy Schumer, Adventure Time, The Simpsons, Robot Chicken, Between Two Ferns, Big Bang Theory, A Tribute to Mel Brooks, Veep, Last Week Tonight, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Modern Family, and The Tonight Show all received Emmys in a variety of very specific categories.

Take a gander at the full list right here.

“ It’s the audio from my last of 3 shows that I performed at Madison Square Garden early this year.  Some of the material is in the Comedy Store Special.  Some of it isn’t.  But it’s also a fun show on it’s own.  BUT since it’s repeated material, I’m giving you the option to set your price anywhere from 1 dollar to 85.”

-e-mail from Louis C.K. for Live at Madison Square Garden

You can get your copy of the album for anywhere from $1 to $85 here and you might want to do that as we’re not sure when the next time Louis is going to do a special or when he’ll do the next season of Louie.

Consider he has two other shows he’s producing, continuing to do stand-up, and probably more projects that are unannounced, it’s surprising that he doesn’t take breaks from his shows more often.

Announced at FX’s day at the TCA press tour, Louis C.K. will be taking more time off from his award winning series Louie.

As to if and when a sixth season will happen, there are no details. However, C.K. will have plenty of other stuff coming out to make up for it.

FX Orders “Better Things” From Pamela Adlon and Louis C.K. to Series

This is the third series that C.K. will have going on the network.

While not an actual spin-off, Better Things will follow Pamela Adlon as someone not named Pamela in the same sort of way that Louie follows C.K. though Adlon’s occupation will be acting.

With Louie, the upcoming Baskets starring Zach Galifianakis, and now Better Things, FX could have almost have Adult-Swim-like-programming block for CK produced shows.

Amy Schumer, Louis C.K., and Denis Leary To Be Final Guests on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart”

Uncategorized

Jon Stewart is going to have a ball on his last week.

Next Monday will be the start to Jon Stewart’s final days as host of The Daily Show. As such, he’s having three comedians, Amy Schumer, Louis C.K., and Denis Leary, all of whom he loves having on the show and subsequently had some of the best interview segments during Stewart’s Daily Show tenure.

That’s three guests, but Jon has 4 episodes left coming to an end on Aug. 6th, which means that there’s probably something special for a finale. It’s probably not an interview with Donald Trump over pizza, but we can always dream, right?

We’re not saying that you weren’t planning on it, but you should probably check out The Daily Show next week.

Watch Louis C.K.’s Monologue And Trying To Keep Up With Talking Like Leslie Jones on SNL Finale

You’ve might have caught some clickbait headlines about Louis C.K.’s monologue from the season finale of Saturday Night Live last night.

While he did talk about “mild racism”, child molestation, and made an analogy between how he deals with his daughters fighting and the conflict between Israel and Palestine, it was still a great set of stand-up that framed and contextualized touchy subjects into a funny light.

Also, one of the best sketches of the night came when C.K. had to do a Leslie Jones impression.

Louis C.K.: Live From The Comedy Store premieres May 28th and “Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll” and season 2 of “Married” premiere July 16th.

FX gets the first TV dibs on Louis C.K.’s latest special “Live at The Comedy Store” that will make its TV debut almost two months after the season 5 premiere of Louie.

Following that, Denis Leary’s new comedy and hair in Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll and the second season of Married will round out FX’s comedy schedule for a while.

Between this, Netflix’s upcoming comedy, Veep and Silicon Valley returning, etc., the only time you might have freed up is those few months between Letterman leaving The Late Show and Colbert taking over.

Louis C.K. Nixing Jimmy Fallon’s Chances on “The Dana Carvey Show”, Performing Next to De Blasio With Poop In His Pants, and Coming Up in NYC Comedy

Louie is back Thurs. night, which brings another added treat of C.K. doing great rounds at late night and a bunch of fascinating, unfiltered interviews.

On The Tonight Show, Louis C.K. went one unbelievable story right after the other of being the head writer on the short lived Dana Carvey Show and making sure Jimmy Fallon, who apparently is hearing the story for the first time live on TV, didn’t get on the show, then detailing how had to go on stage with poop in his pants at a black tie event, stand alongside Mayor Bill De Blasio.

C.K. also reminisced about the harder, struggle-ridden days of doing stand-up in New York City both on The Tonight Show and in an in-depth interview with The Hollywood Reporter and how appreciative of it he is now.

Also, we’re pretty sure you can see a picture from Louis’ story about standing next to De Blasio with poop in his pants in the THR interview.

Louis C.K. Takes Someone To Bow at a Broadway Play, Sarah Silverman Confronts Auction Winners as Her Parents, and Plenty Of Night of Too Many Stars Prizes Still Up For Grabs

Last night’s Night of Too Many Stars on Comedy Central was one wild, raucous, probably NSFW ride all in support of autism programs.

Such things as Louis C.K. taking an auction winner to take a bow at a Broadway play they weren’t in and Sarah Silverman confronting other auction winners like she would confront her parents all really happened.

Though the special is over, you can still support the charity via donation here or through entering into contests to win tickets to the last taping of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, tickets to The Roast of Justin Beiber, having a Vine video directed by Judd Apatow, be drawn into The Simpsons, or have a White Castle slider named after you.

If you were honest with yourself, you’d probably just pay and enter these contests without supporting any charity, so get on donating/entering now.
