Please Enjoy The Puterbaugh Sisters’ Delightfully Demented Web Series “Kitchen Women”

The wondrous comedy duo, The Puterbaugh Sisters, have just released their latest work, a madcap feminist satirical web series Kitchen Women. Danielle and Tiffany Puterbaugh revisit life as a woman in the 50s, back when the notion of women belonging in the kitchen was unfortunately all too commonplace.

Fortunately, they revisit such times with a darkly comedic lens highlighting the cracks in the veneer of such a life fettered with broken glass and vodka. There is plenty of hysterical bedlam (as well as plenty of cameos by LA comedy favorites like Marcella Arguello, Ever Mainard, and more) through all six episodes.

So, without further adieu, please enjoy all episodes of The Puterbaugh Sisters‘ Kitchen Women here.

Sarah Squirm, the ringleader of comedy collective Helltrap Nightmare, does her group proud with a full fledged Adult Swim infomercial that summons her fluid and hair covered imagination and wit to give a “modest proposal” for what the ideal woman should look like.

Even though you’re probably not working right now because of the holidays, we’ll still give you a NSFW warning (though if your work is down for taking the patriarchy they might be cool with it) and a recommendation to perhaps not eat or have just eaten before watching this. The gross out humor is in peak form here and used expertly.

Erin Gibson’s Collection of Wonderfully Biting Essays “Feminasty” Is Out Now and You Should Go Get It

Erin Gibson’s whipsmart humor has dazzled us for years (you’re acquainted with Throwing Shade by now, right?).

Her just released book Feminasty: The Complicated Woman’s Guide to Surviving the Patriarchy Without Drinking Herself to Death is yet another dazzling work. It gathers timely essays on the weird seemingly “not-so-fun-mirror-funhouse” we live in, but does so in a grand laugh-out-loud fashion. It’s a pleasing read while shining a deservingly harsh light on those responsible for sinking us into the aforementioned bizarro mirror funhouse.

So, you can and very much should go get Feminasty now here.

Guy Who Repeatedly Challenges Legality of ‘Ladies Only Nights’ in Court Sues Iliza Shlesinger for Barring Him from “Girls Night In” Show at Largo

It seems that there is legal precedent under California law for this suit to exist (the story would likely be much different if it was a private party or, perhaps, a free show), but this also looks like a very twisted, flawed understanding of how to bring about equality between the sexes by the men suing Shlesinger.

Men just can’t have enough, can they?

Whatever happens will be an important distinction for live entertainment, especially, in regards to comedy shows going forward.

You, however, can take a tiny sliver of solace in the fact that the plaintiff’s name is George St. George.

Jenny Slate To Write Book of Feminist Essays

In 2019, Jenny Slate will release a book of feminist essays via publishers Little, Brown, and Company. It’ll focus on her personal experiences in the broader context of being a woman in these times.

While that does seem a far off, we have a feeling it’ll be worth the wait, especially if Slate does her own audiobook.

Kate Willett may work a bit “blue”, but she brings a certain intelligence, craftsmanship, and vulnerability in talking about sexuality on stage that evolve such a simplistic description based on how racy some people might find her material.

She’s sincere and completely willing to dissect her life, including all the peaks and valleys. In that regard, the title for her brand new album “Glass Gutter” is perfect because Kate is set on a mission to ensure equality between genders at all levels no matter if they’re high or low.

Here’s a bit off the album accompanied by a clever reenactment.

You can (and should) get Glass Gutter off of iTunes right now from Rooftop Comedy.

We also have no doubt that Bloom just kicked up sales for Ruth Bader Ginsburg throw pillows.

Don’t even worry about the fact that they’re not asking how many white feminists, but exploring how three of them will screw in a light bulb and giving the old joke premise of “how many _____ does it take to screw in a light bulb?” a postmodern, intersectional-ist shake-up.

Last year, Jena Friedman recorded and released an amazing hour special on Seeso entitled American C*nt where she expertly dove into gender inequality in a darkly comedic and clever way.

She did a record it in a much more hopeful time where the idea of Trump becoming President was far from the reality it is now, but this hour from Jena is still as great and relevant now that the previously unimaginable has happened.

If There’s a Satire Hall of Fame, Reductress Just Earned Their Spot with “How To Win at Feminism”

Reductress, which you could think of as The Onion with a feminist bent, has just released How To Win at Feminism, a book that revels in the fight for equality between the sexes with the sort of wondrous, unapologetic, whip smart tone that you probably know and love from Full Frontal with Samantha Bee.

Within its pages are discussions of Taylor Swift feminists vs. Beyonce feminists, a guide to the rings of hell for women that don’t help other women, and more satirical gold that’s arriving on bookshelves at the perfect time.

Honestly, we think How To Win at Feminism could be potentially enjoyed by all including those stuck in the most toxic depths of masculinity. Maybe they’d even be brought around to the right side of history if they appreciated this book for the carefully crafted piece of satire that it is.

How To Win at Feminism was sharply penned by Reductress’ own Anna Drezen, Sarah Pappalardo, and Beth Newell. There’s a stop on the book tour here in LA with Pappalardo and Newell at Skylight Books on Friday, November 11th at 7:30PM.

Matt Braunger Offers a Great Follow-Up to Horrific “How to Talk to Women Wearing Headphones” Article

Basically, this sentient-grease-fire of an article called How To Talk to a Woman Who Is Wearing Headphones by Dan Bacon was just posted that not only encourages unwanted advances by men to pick up women, but reinforces patriarchal gender roles and stereotypes to the point that you might question whether you’re living in 2016 yet.

Comedian/sane human being who does live in 2016, Matt Braunger, felt that that Dan Bacon left out a few steps and offered his own satirical corollary, How To Talk to a Woman Wearing Headphones Pt. 2 that almost washes out the bad taste of the source material out of your mouth.

A recent initiative, dubbed “extreme vetting”, was added to Donald Trump’s controversial immigration policy this week. It calls for questioning of potential immigrants’ sympathies toward extremist religious views, LBGTQ people, women, etc.

With this litmus test, The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper wanted to see how many a Trump supporter would fare on this ‘extreme vetting’ test and did some field research at a Trump rally to find out.

Spoiler alert: you probably won’t be surprised by the results whatsoever.

Kate McKinnon, Tracee Ellis Ross, Samantha Bee, Niecy Nash, and Allison Janney Sound Off on “Why Men Aren’t Funny”

This is a nice counterpoint to that infamous, inflammatory, and completely unnecessary Christopher Hitchens essay from 2007 voiced by some of the most notable funny people around today that just happen to be women.

Sure, 2007 was almost a decade ago and there has always been evidence against Hitchens, but it’s always fun to skewer his Why Women Aren’t Funny piece every once in awhile.
