NBC Announces Their Streaming Service ‘Peacock’ with New Mike Schur/Ed Helms Show Rutherford Heights, The Amber Ruffin Show, and More

NBC Announces Their Streaming Service ‘Peacock’ with New Mike Schur/Ed Helms Show Rutherford Heights, The Amber Ruffin Show, and More

While Seeso ended up not working out, NBC is taking another crack at an exclusive streaming service, though it won’t be limited to just a vast library of original and acquired comedy programming.

Peacock, announced today, will carry a bunch of NBC exclusive content including a scripted series that will bring Mike Schur and Ed Helms back for the first time since The Office, former Late Night with Seth Meyers writer/star Amber Ruffin with her own streamlined version of a late night show in The Amber Ruffin Show, and SNL behind-the-scenes series called Who Wrote That.

Also, a movie sequel to the off-beat detective comedy series Psych and the third season of A.P. Bio are line-up for Peacock.

There are a bunch of drama properties that NBC has planned for Peacock as well, but we do think that much of Peacock success will have to do with a new Schur/Helms series.

Also, when this launches, NBC will technically be the first network to have four late night style shows (Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, A Little Late with Lilly Singh, and soon The Amber Ruffin Show).

If this all sounds good to you, look towards spring of 2020 to get in on NBC’s Peacock.

Fake News with Ted Nelms Special Premieres Tonight

Tonight, Ed Helms return to his Daily Show roots by doing an entire fake news special that, thus far, seems to have nothing to do with The Daily Show with Trevor Noah or The Opposition with Jordan Klepper.

The Fake News with Ted Nelms premieres tonight at 10PM on Comedy Central.

Just so you know what’s coming, here’s a clip of breaking down a pressing issue: “trolls”.

Ed Helms to Return to Comedy Central for “The Fake News with Ted Nelms” TV Special

So, if this is a “fake news” TV special, it stands to reason that it would be the “opposition” to The Opposition with Jordan Klepper, right?

In any case, Ed Helms back in Daily Show mode will be a welcome sight to see on The Fake News with Ted Nelms on Wednesday, December 13th at 10PM on Comedy Central.

Potentially, this might be the most important holiday TV special this year?

There’s a Daily Show with Jon Stewart Reunion on The Late Show Tonight

At the stroke of 11:35PM on tonight’s The Late Show, Stephen Colbert will reassemble the old Daily Show gang including Jon Stewart, Samantha Bee, John Oliver, Ed Helms, and Rob Corddry.

Like the poster above hints at, it really is an Avengers-esque reunion as each of those Daily Show correspondents have become legitimate stars on their own.

Since Comey got taken down today, odds are that they’ll have a nice, big camera pan off of all of them for some off-screen celebrating.

Fox Is Developing Comedies From Ed Helms and Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg

(via The Hollywood Reporter/Deadline)

It would seem nowadays that broadcast networks need their shows to have star power producing pilots and scripts even before they consider picking it up to series.

Thus, Fox is really stacking their comedy development slate with high profile, high concept projects this season. Just this week, they’ve added Weird Like Us from Ed Helms and Max Werner and Citizen Floyd from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg on to their docket.

Weird Like Us will follow the family dynamics of parents that go against the grain of society that end up raising kids that decide to join that very grain. Citizen Floyd has much fewer details as it’s only noted to be a workplace comedy with suspense and some political elements.

As far as Fox’s live action comedies go, we can see how these two series would pair nicely with Last Man on Earth.

Already, the Vacation reboot has shown. promise for a no-holds-barred family vacation for 2015.

In this new trailer, there’s even more promise shown in the form of a foul-mouthed little brother.

It’s not much longer until you get to see the whole trip, as Vacation comes out in theaters on Jul 29th.

The return of The Griswolds, though in a new generation, and their quest to visit Walley World had a pretty great red band trailer a month ago.

Here’s a new trailer for the new Vacation that sneaks under the trailer rating system and still manages to keep in the spirit set by the original franchise.

Look for this to be one of Summer’s big comedy releases on July 29th.

Watch a Red Band Trailer For The New “Vacation”

This time, it’s nostalgic… sort of.

In this new Vacation movie that straddles the line between sequel and reboot, Ed Helms attempts to relive the very first vacation to Walley World with his own wife, played by Christina Applegate, and kids. So far, it seems to be nicely self-aware part of the franchise, including a cameo from Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo, that so many of us enjoy these days.

Of course, this being 2015, a few more things can go wrong to the point where you can make a red band trailer.

Watch the red band trailer, that might just have earned its red band from Chris Hemsworth alone, here.

Vacation is set for theatrical release July 29th.

New Line’s revival of the “Vacation” franchise already boasts a cast starring Ed Helms and Leslie Mann along with Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth, Charlie Day, Keegan Michael-Key, and Regina Hall.

Now, the revitalized Griswold family will have the likes of Tim Heidecker, Nick Kroll, Kaitlin Olson, and Michael Pena joining in the fun as well.

We’re sure this will make for one long, hell of a good trailer whenever that comes out sometime next year.

The New Line reboot of the ‘Vacation’ franchise starring Ed Helms has lined up its great cast also featuring Christina Applegate, Charlie Day, Keegan Michael-Key, and more.

Now, this new Vacation has a premiere date set for a year from now in Oct. 2015, which will happen well before Twin Peaks returns in 2016. So set reminders on your smartphone/calendar now.

The reboot of the Vacation franchise by New Line was already pretty enticing with Ed Helms as a grown up Rusty Griswold.

Now, Keegan Michael-Key and Regina Hall have gotten added to the cast as the heads of a perfect family in contrast to the oft-dysfunctional Griswolds.

So, this reboot just keeps getting better and better.

Through Ed Helms’ production company Pacific Electric that has a first look deal at Universal TV, Helms will be producing a sitcom starring and written by the hysterical Julian McCullough. It will be based on McCullough’s years growing up and is set to be a multi-camera project.

If you’ve ever seen Julian’s stand-up, you know that this project has a lot of potential.  Above all of this, we hope that there will be some reference or mention of McCullough’s collection of the Babysitters Club book series.

Ed Helms, Claudia Lonow, and, of course, the hilarious Joe Wengert are together developing a family comedy for NBC that will be loosely based on Wengert’s life. Called Big Kids, Wengert isn’t set to star in it, but the series will focus on a guy feeling the need to help his little sister and parents too much.

If you’re familiar with how funny Wengert is or his character Mr. Girardi, etc., you should, like us, hope this goes to series.
