What Late Night Has Planned After Trump’s First State of the Union
The very first State of the Union Address will be delivered by President Trump tonight live at 9PM EST/6PM PST.
Of course, late night will not miss an opportunity to get right in on the aftermath as soon as POTUS finishes attempting (maybe) to speak like an adult.
So, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will air immediately after coverage ends on CBS (meaning it’ll be primetime here on the West Coast). He’ll have the hosts of Pod Save America: Tommy Vietor, Jon Favreau & Jon Lovett, 2 Dope Queens’ Jessica Williams & Phoebe Robinson as guests.
Trevor Noah and Jordan Klepper will go for a one-two punch by both going live after the State of the Union with The Daily Show and The Opposition at 11PM EST/8PM PST & 11:30PM EST/8:30PM PST respectively.
Oh, don’t forget that Jimmy Kimmel will being interviewing Stormy Daniels, the porn star that is making claims to have had an extramarital affair with Trump tonight as well at his normal time of 11:35PM.
Get a Taste of Tiffany Haddish’s Book “The Last Black Unicorn” from Her Daily Show Appearance This Week
Like Trevor Noah says in this interview, Tiffany Haddish is the human equivalent of a sun shining light to us all.
She shares some stories with Noah that are all written down (and spoken in audiobook form) in her new book The Last Black Unicorn, which you can (and should) get here.
Dulcé Sloan Will Be The Daily Show’s Newest Correspondent
Beginning this week, Dulcé Sloan will be the newest member of the Daily Show team and, we think, will bring a whole new facet of attitude to the show.
The Opposition with Jordan Klepper’s First Teaser Is Here and It Looks Like Klepper Might Be Picking Up Where Colbert Report Left Off
You know, it just occurred to us that The Opposition with Jordan Klepper might be the spiritual successor to The Colbert Report.
Klepper, now a former Daily Show correspondent, is set to satirize conspiracy theoriests, alt-right, etc. by taking their side to the nth degree, similar to the beloved, ironic, conservative political pundit character Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report.
See for yourself in this teaser, then look for The Opposition with Jordan Klepper’s premiere on Monday, September 25th following The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.
Jordan Klepper to Do a Whole Special on Guns Next Month
In fact, he’s calling it “Jordan Klepper Solves Guns” and talks to the likes of Senator Cory Booker, Former Army Special Ops Soldier Pat McNamara, Members of the Georgia Security Force Militia, and gun experts, gun nuts, etc.
Whether or not Klepper actually fulfills the premise of the title of this special, you should probably watch it as Klepper has been doing solid work in the field for The Daily Show.
Jordan Klepper Solves Guns premieres on Sunday, Jun. 11th at 10PM on Comedy Central.
There’s a Daily Show with Jon Stewart Reunion on The Late Show Tonight
At the stroke of 11:35PM on tonight’s The Late Show, Stephen Colbert will reassemble the old Daily Show gang including Jon Stewart, Samantha Bee, John Oliver, Ed Helms, and Rob Corddry.
Like the poster above hints at, it really is an Avengers-esque reunion as each of those Daily Show correspondents have become legitimate stars on their own.
Since Comey got taken down today, odds are that they’ll have a nice, big camera pan off of all of them for some off-screen celebrating.
Hasan Minhaj Delivers (and Then Some [and Even More]) as Host of 2017 White House Correspondents’ Dinner
It was only a year ago that Hasan Minhaj was at a different podium as host of the RTCA Dinner (the “JV nerd prom”?), delivering a set that was both unapologetic in its clever barbs as well as heartfelt in its message.
Most RTCA Dinner hosts don’t get to graduate to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner the very next year. Then again, these are times that are often without precedent.
Hasan Minhaj, as we’ve seen him do time and time again as a stand-up, storyteller, and a correspondent on The Daily Show, dished out his finely detailed jokes last night with a certain brutal grace and was more on point than several WHCD hosts before him. Had this been the Obama Administration, we think Hasan might have not had trouble following him like other comedians have had over the years.
Don’t be surprised if Hasan ends up getting his very own show soon from this performance.
Thus far, Trump has not tweeted about the happenings of the WHCD dinner directly, but we can imagine that it might include something like “Sad!” a few dozen times.
So, for free speech, for free press, for comedy, and for all of our sanity, you now might want to watch and enjoy Hasan at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
Obama’s Anger Translator Gets in Final Words on Trump Becoming President
Keegan Michael-Key and Jordan Peele team up once more for their Obama and Anger Translator Luther sketch that just might sum up how you’re feeling with less than two weeks before Trump’s inauguration. It actually might sum up your feelings more loudly than you could have imagined.
“The Daily Show (The Book): An Oral History as Told by Jon Stewart, the Correspondents, Staff, and Guests” Out Now
Without too much time passing since Jon Stewart left his post as host of The Daily Show, you can see that his influence on comedy, television, political discourse, satire, and the media as a whole is undeniable.
The oral history captured in The Daily Show (The Book): An Oral History as Told by Jon Stewart, The Correspondents, Staff, and Guests should give you an unprecedented look as to how that happened.
Vulture points out some big takeaways from the book in case you’re not already intrigued from Kilborn’s absence in the book to details on Stewart’s take down of Jim Cramer.

Here Are All The 2016 Election Day Comedy Specials/Events on TV Tonight
It probably won’t make up for the wall-to-wall news coverage and the anxiety that you’ve been feeling for months now, but Colbert will be cursing on Showtime with Patton Oswalt, Larry Wilmore, Jeff Goldblum, Jena Friedman, and Nick Offerman as guests and both The Daily Show and @midnight will go on live tonight.
The Daily Show with Trevor Noah LIVE 8PM PST on Comedy Central
Stephen Colbert’s Live Election Night: Democracy’s Series Finale: Who’s Going to Clean Up This Sh*t? 8PM PST on Showtime
@midnight with Chris Hardwick LIVE 9PM PST
Desus & Mero Live Election Special 11PM PST on Viceland
Larry Wilmore and Stephen Colbert Talk About the Surprising Cancellation of The Nightly Show and Hosting WHC Dinner
These two Daily Show with Jon Stewart alums once had their own late night shows on the air at the same time.
Then, Comedy Central, seemingly out-of-nowhere, brought down the axe on The Nightly Show.
A few weeks later/last night, Stephen Colbert brought Larry Wilmore on The Late Show and commiserated the loss of his show as well as the strange experience of hosting the White House Correspondents Dinner.
At this point, we’d be surprised if several months go by without Larry hosting another show.
Jordan Klepper Puts Trump Supporters Through Trump’s Extreme Vetting Process
A recent initiative, dubbed “extreme vetting”, was added to Donald Trump’s controversial immigration policy this week. It calls for questioning of potential immigrants’ sympathies toward extremist religious views, LBGTQ people, women, etc.
With this litmus test, The Daily Show’s Jordan Klepper wanted to see how many a Trump supporter would fare on this ‘extreme vetting’ test and did some field research at a Trump rally to find out.
Spoiler alert: you probably won’t be surprised by the results whatsoever.
Mike Birbiglia on Joking About Trump Candidacy Before It Happened and Don’t Think Twice’s R Rating
Mike Birbiglia’s extended interview on this week’s Daily Show not only shows some fascinating aspects surrounding his new movie, Don’t Think Twice, including making up a joke about Trump running for president before Trump announced he was running (The Simpsons did awhile ago, but the fact that Trump ran after anyone on TV and in movies joked about it is still pretty crazy) and the comparison of violent PG-13 movies versus the inexplicable R-rating that his movie got, but shows why you should follow anything Birbiglia is doing.
Lewis Black on Colbert Pretty Much Gives Us a Bonus “Back In Black” Segment on RNC
In fact, Lewis Black was so damn mad and chomping at the bit that he didn’t don the attire you’re used to seeing him in on The Daily Show when channeling his rage for his long running Back in Black segment.
Still, even in comfy, casual wear, Black gives you all would want/handle with his thoughts on the RNC on The Late Show with his old Daily Show compatriot, Stephen Colbert.
