It just might like yesterday that you were joking about putting a bird on it, but Portlandia has had one hell of a run as a sketch comedy show on IFC.

Most TV shows, especially sketch shows, don’t make it this far. Keep that in mind along with the surprising, but delightful pairing of Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen as the final season kicks off tonight at 10PM tonight on IFC.

Later this month, the final venture into Portlandia will begin as the characters of Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein will return for the 8th and final season.

Here’s a trailer for what they’ve got in store for us all.

The last leg of Portlandia premieres Thurs., Jan. 18th at 10PM on IFC.

The 8th and final season of Portlandia is set to arrive on Thursday, January 18th at 10PM on IFC, which we’re sure you’re making a reminder of right now.

In preparation of that, they released a whole sketch rather than a teaser or a trailer that’s as timely as can be as the trail of men brought down by their history of sexual harassment moves forward every single day. They do it in their own quirky Portlandia way of course.

See for yourself here.

Portlandia Gets an 8th Season, Which Will Be Its Final Season

The final season will air in 2018 and we’re sure there will be plenty instances where 8 birds will be put on it, whatever “it” may be.

Also, remember that Kyle MacLachlan will go from Portlandia to Twin Peaks this year. So, don’t fret too much.

Maybe if there’s a RTJ4 or RTJ5, they’ll get to actually do some of these release “strategies”? The apocalypse one might seem more feasible next year maybe?

In any case, the new season has a sketch with Run The Jewels on it, so you should be looking out for the season premiere on Thursday, January 5th at 10PM.

Mitch Hurwitz Plays an Ob-Gyn, That Seems Straight Out of Arrested Development, on New Season of Portlandia

Go figure. The guy who created Arrested Development knows how to play a character that would totally fit in the world of Arrested Development on screen.

As we’re all accustomed to now, Portlandia has a bunch of great guest stars every season. This time around, Mitch Hurwitz is one of them and he’s playing an overly wise-cracking Ob-Gyn, much to the dismay of Carrie Brownstein. It almost gets you thinking of how close the universes of Portlandia and Arrested Development are tone-wise.

Watch it here.

So, what are you waiting for?

The brand new season of Portlandia doesn’t premiere until next Thurs., Jan. 21st, but you can watch one entire episode if you’re really really anxious to see more complex, layered, absurd, self-referential misadventures of Fred and Carrie and their many characters thanks to IFC.

Get into it here or even on YouTube if you need more convenience.

IFC Is Airing Marathons of All of Portlandia and Todd Margaret For New Year’s

Not sure what you’re doing New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day? Maybe you can’t figure out what your New Year’s Resolution will be?

In either case, IFC is offering up marathons of every episode of both Portlandia and Todd Margaret that might make answering those two questions a little easier (i.e. spend the night watching or resolve to watch both series in their entirety).

The Todd Margaret marathon starts on New Year’s Eve at 6PM and the Portlandia marathon follows shortly thereafter on New Year’s Day at 6AM.

Old Navy Continues Its Streak of Great Comedian Spokespeople with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein

First, it was Amy Poehler. Then, it was Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Then, it was Julia Louis-Dreyfus with Kumail Nanjiani and Snoop Dog.

Now, it’s Portlandia’s own Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein that are starring in the latest round of Old Navy ads.

Like all the folks before them, it seems like they crafted the ads themselves since they kind of play like sketches from Portlandia.

In fact, if you’re having some sort of Portlandia withdrawals, these ads might soothe you for just a bit before season 6 premieres on Jan. 21st.

The Trailer for Season 6 of “Portlandia” Has Arrived

The will-they-won’t-they tension between Fred and Carrie comes to a head in the next season of Portlandia, in a Portlandia way of course.

Portlandia is set for its season 6 premiere on Thurs. Jan. 21st on IFC and Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein seem like they’re closer than they ever were… or are they?

Watch the new trailer and judge for yourself.

You’ve got just over a month before there’s new Portlandia to watch. Specifically, you only have to wait until Thurs. Jan. 21st at 10PM on IFC for the season 6 premiere.

In the meantime, you can whet your artisanal, cage free, gluten free, organic-with-a-bird-on-it appetite with an in-depth inside look into what they’ve got in store for the new season…

…the guest stars including Louis C.K., Mitch Hurwitz, and Steve Buscemi…

…along with various bits of season 6 scattered throughout…

…and some surprises that are a first for the show.

Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein Finally Attempt Sexual Congress for Season 6 of Portlandia

Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein have said over and over in interviews that they know too much about each other to ever seriously date.

However, five seasons of their show, Portlandia, may have broken down enough barriers to at least make a technical go at coitus.

Just watch them go at it (?), then be sure to catch the season 6 premiere of Portlandia on Thurs. Jan. 21st at 10PM on IFC.

Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein to Bring “Portlandia” to a Close as a Series After Season 8

However, they’re open to other things outside of a series.

In a recent interview during the shooting of season 6, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein revealed that the 8th season of Portlandia that IFC has ordered will be its last.

A movie, musical, or some sort of one off could be possible, but don’t fret about the exit of the show yet. Season 6 is in production and seasons 7 and 8 have yet to be even conceived of.

Still, we’re sure they’ll start thinking of some great collector box set that comes with plenty of birds to put wherever you want.

IFC’s biggest series are getting into production for their latest seasons and, of course, they have quite the guest star list.

Pitchfork reports that a nice roster of bands will be featured on Comedy Bang! Bang! including The National, Lonely Island, Future Islands, and The Flaming Lips. Presumably, there will be some great jamming between them and Comedy Bang! Bang’s band leader Reggie Watts.

Splitsider has found through Carrie Brownstein’s Instagram that Natasha Lyonne, Jeff Goldblum, and Jane Lynch, amongst others will join Fred Armisen and Carrie in Portlandia.

So, we can’t wait for the premiere of either of these.

Carrie Brownstein’s First Feature Writing Gig Will Be An Adaptation of “Lost in Austen”

(via Variety)

Carrie Brownstein has made waves in the comedy world ever since the debut of Portlandia on IFC. Now, her talents are being tapped elsewhere as she has just set to adapt the UK series Lost in Austen into a movie.

Having someone in Brooklyn be transported into the world of Jane Austen is definitely within Brownstein’s wheelhouse and we’re excited to see what she comes up with.

So, this does count as our 2nd post about an adaptation of something based on the works of Jane Austen today and we can only hope that they’re both as enjoyable as Austenland.
