BoJack Horseman’s Final Season Trailer Is Here

January 15, 2020
Uncategorized
bojack horseman, final season, trailer

BoJack Horseman seemingly came out of nowhere, years ago, with such a wildly high concept, even for animation, and then ended up being one of the most unexpected surprises for an animated series, sitcom, dramedy, or whatever else you want to try to call it.

What’s even more amazing is that it kept being an unexpected surprise by reinventing itself every season (sometimes, between episodes) and pulling that off. So many TV series have fallen short trying to attempt anything similar. BoJack’s reinvention became part of its key thanks to creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg and company.

At this point, we’re not entirely sure what’s going to happen other than us all getting another set of episodes that will be hysterical, heartfelt, meta, and, overall, damn fine television later this month.

Get a taste of what’s to come with the final episodes of BoJack Horseman in this final season 6 trailer here, then look for episodes to start streaming on Fri. Jan. 31st on Netflix.

We can still remember people’s astonishment at the first tonal shift in the first season of Raphael Bob-Waksberg’s BoJack Horseman. It took so many people by surprise and then encouraged to beg people to watch all of the first season without revealing too much.

In the years since, BoJack Horseman continued to be one of the most innovative, hysterical, gratifying, and artful shows on TV, constantly reinventing itself and, if you think about it, never having a standard or typical episode.

If anything is to be expected, it’s that Raphael has a season worth of more surprises that are as funny as they are heart wrenching and this trailer for the sixth and final season of BoJack Horseman certainly backs up that notion.

Watch the Season 6 BoJack Horseman trailer here, then set a reminder for Oct. 25th and Jan. 31st as the premiere dates for both halves of this final season.

Few have captured the spirit of these times quite like Raphael Bob-Waksberg and the show he created BoJack Horseman. Raphael’s comedic sensibilities match up quite nicely with a certain existential frustration in the, if we may say, collective unconscious.

Anyways, that’s all to say that you should go to this book release event for his book Someone Who Will Love You In All Your Damaged Glory, a collection of stories about love, warts and all, at Dynasty Typewriter this Friday. Raphael will be live in person in conversation with Kara Brown and tickets plus a copy of the book are only $40 now (w/o book is $15).

Go get them here.

BoJack Horseman Getting a Sixth Season at Netflix

Even after 5 seasons of successfully exploring so many different tones and arcs and being topical in a sincere way and having some of the best animal sight gags in entertainment history, BoJack Horseman continues to surprise, delight, and enrapture us and stand out in a very crowded field of both animation and dramedy.

We won’t be surprised if there’s an elective college course on BoJack before too long.

Congratulations on a well deserved sixth season.

This is just a friendly neighborhood reminder of what you’ll probably end up spending your whole weekend watching.

Who knew that an animated series following a misanthropic, anthropomorphized horse trying to process fame, existence, etc. peppered with clever animal puns would be one of the most poignant shows of our time and go for 5 seasons?

We had a feeling of season 1 of BoJack Horseman that this might be the case. In any case, all episodes of season 5 of BoJack are now streaming on Netflix.

Four years ago, BoJack Horseman debuted on Netflix and broke new ground for being a complex comedy that featured a bold tone shift towards the end of that first season.

Ever since, BoJack has received loads of acclaim by striking a great balance between satirizing the entertainment biz and pondering the ever present existential crises of life with super clever animal jokes all while being an animated series.

This upcoming fifth season, as this trailer shows, seems game to up the ante on what has already been a pretty damn great and unforgettable ride.

Look for all episodes of season 5 of BoJack Horseman to drop on Friday, September 14th.

This is just a friendly neighborhood reminder that your favorite existential crisis-ridden cartoon horse is coming back right at summer ends (you know, a time you’re probably getting pretty introspective anyway).

Lisa Hanawalt, producer/production designer at BoJack Horseman (and a big reason that BoJack has the wonderful look that it does) has created her own series that will be released by Netflix called, Tuca & Bertie.

The series will follow “the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca, a cocky, care-free toucan, and Bertie, an anxious, daydreaming songbird.” Tiffany Haddish will be voicing Tuca.

So, The Odd Couple with two bird women, one of which will be voiced by the undeniable Haddish? Count us in.

BoJack Horseman Renewed for Fifth Season

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that one of Netflix’s most critically acclaimed comedies (just look up how many favorable think pieces are written about it) is getting another season.

Netflix announced the renewal with this delightful .gif.

So, add another season of BoJack Horseman as something positive to look forward in the not so distant future.

BoJack Horseman Season 4 Now Streaming

If you were to imagine a few years ago whether a dark, dramatic animated comedy about a former sitcom star horse dealing with his own existential crises would not only make it through 4 seasons, but be one of the more celebrated animated comedies on television, you might have had second thoughts.

Yet, season 4 of BoJack Horseman has arrived today as one of the more anticipated blocks of television from Netflix this year. All episodes are now streaming.

Here are two little nibbles from the new season if you need a taste (or somehow don’t have access to a Netflix account).

BoJack Horseman Season 4 Trailer Has All the Madness of 2016-17, But Seems to Be Searching for Its Titular Character

Well, you can rest assure that the last several months will be very rarely regarded as a “good time”.

That being said, it’s kind of a perfect time for BoJack Horseman, an animated comedy that tangles with the human condition in an imaginary universe where the entire animal kingdom is “fully evolved”.

The trailer for season 4, which is coming soon on Friday, September 8th to Netflix, promises a Mr. Peanutbutter storyline that appears to be paralleling 2016 election, even more outlandish chaos with Todd, and, to top it off, a BoJack Horseman who seems more lost than usual.

See for yourself in the trailer here.

BoJack Horseman always leaves on such great cliffhangers and, with the way TV series are run these days, there’s no telling when the new season will answer the questions left by the last season’s finale.

So, today, those concerns were alleviated somewhat as the image above was tweeted out. It definitely gives us a date to look forward to for one of the best animated dramedies that has ever been and, perhaps, a clue where season 4 might start (without spoiling too much for those who haven’t caught up).

Host TJ Miller both co-starred Deadpool and is part of the ensemble cast of Silicon Valley, which both took home Critics Choice Awards last night. This might make TJ the biggest winner of the evening.

The Late Late Show with James Corden also continues its ascent in late night by winning over all the satirical news shows and Fallon, which is pretty astounding considering that Fallon is still a ratings leader and Sam Bee, John Oliver, and Trevor Noah got special focus because of the election.

The election also put special focus on SNL with highlighting both Kate McKinnon and Alec Baldwin in their respective impressions of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump and resulted in their Critics Choice wins.

Meryl Streep continues her dominance with awards in general as she indeed play a historically bad singer perfectly in Florence Foster Jenkins.

Don’t forget that FX has a nice showing here as well with wins for Louie Anderson on Baskets and Donald Glover on Atlanta. It’s further proof that FX’s programming line-up can stand with the premium cable and streaming networks.

Also, we’re glad to see BoJack Horseman taking home Best Animated Series as the show continues to evolve and get more emotionally and satisfyingly complex.

Annie Awards Nominations Announced and Zootopia Leads Big Time

Zootopia scored 11 nominations to be exact.

The Annie Awards, the big time, awards ceremony honoring the highest achievement in animation just announced this year’s nominations and Zootopia has emerged as a clear favorite.

On top of that, the nods to more grown-up fare like The Simpsons, BoJack Horseman and Venture Bros are nice to see. All ages shows like Adventure Time and Finding Dory, perhaps unsurprisingly, gained nominations as well.

We’ll see if Zootopia can make good on its 11 nominations when the winners are announced February 4th.

Much has been written about the dramatic tinges and existential comedy of the critically acclaimed animated sitcom BoJack Horseman. Creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg has even said that he has intentionally shifted the emotional tone of the series over entire seasons in order to tell the sort of stories you don’t normally see in an animated cartoon series.

YouTube channel Wisecrack has gone over all three seasons, found echoes of the likes of Sartre and Camus and more famous philosophers, and presents them all nice and nearly in this video essay (warning: contains spoilers).

BoJack Horseman Season 3 Trailer Promises More of the Self Possessed, Conflicted BoJack That You’ve Come to Know and Love

Even though BoJack Horseman is an animated series, it has made its mark on the TV landscape by being a show that paints with all the colors, both figuratively and literally. BoJack not only goes to the darkest and most dramatic corners of comedy, but balances it so well with the super clever humor in the alternate universe where animals and humans are on equal footing.

From the looks of this trailer, Season 3 looks like it’s only going to double down again on that formula and we can’t wait for it.

Look for all episodes to start streaming on July 22nd.
