Pick of the Day: Ben Wasserman’s Live After Death: Greenwood Cemetery (in NYC) 10/26

News
Ben Wasserman, brooklyn, live after death, nyc

OK OK, we know have told you plenty of times about Ben Wasserman’s brilliant, absurd, joyful, tear-filled, but altogether beautiful experimental solo comedy/grief show Live After Death. Wasserman has earned every word of praise to be sure.

That said, we’d like to highlight that Ben is closing off this latest run of Live After Death in the historic Green Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. First off, it’s a gigantic, centuries-old cemetery that’s one of the most interesting sites in all of Brooklyn (which is saying something). Secondly, Ben has played many a funeral home/mortuary service with his very unique show, but playing Live After Death in one of America’s most historic cemeteries is a whole other thing entirely and sure to be a very, very, very special edition of the show (even if you’ve seen the show already multiple times). It’s worth the $50 ticket to be sure.

These final (for now?) performances of Live After Death are set for Thurs. Oct. 26th at 7PM & 9:15PM and you really ought to buy a cheaper Halloween costume so you can get tickets to this. Do so here.

Pick of the Day: Live After Death: a comedy show about grief and loss! (in LA) 10/13 & 10/14

Ben Wasserman, live after death, los angeles comedy, solo show

The hysterical and poignant Ben Wasserman did get to bring his very special solo show, Live After Death, to LA to mix unfettered silliness with deep healing from grief and loss, but had to do it in a traditional theater, an atypical set up for his show which was largely performed at a funeral home.

Thankfully, Wasserman’s return to Los Angeles with Live After Death is going to happen at Death Doula LA, a different sort of family planning service that guides individuals and their families through the end of life. Wasserman’s show is special as is with truly getting you to have you double over laughing and also “feel all the feels” between absurd bits and cathartic sharing of stories and remembering of loved ones that we’ve lost. It will undoubtedly be something, even more so, that one shouldn’t miss at a venue that deals with death on a day-to-day basis.

Ben has Fri. Oct. 13th and Sat. Oct. 14th at 7:30PM set for two exclusive performances of Live After Death with LA comedy darlings Reshma Meister and Camirin Farmer opening the shows respectively. Tickets are $15 and you can (and should) go get them here.

Ben Wasserman, live after death, los angeles comedy, yard theater

We love when concept and venue match and we also happen to love when comedy explores and dissects into the inevitability of death. Thus, we naturally are very on board for the amazing Ben Wasserman‘s variety show about death that he ran out of a funeral parlor in NYC throughout 2022.

So cleverly called Live After Death, Wasserman made probably as silly and absurd a show about grief and loss as one can make, yet do so from a genuine place (Wasserman lost several people close to him over three years) rather doing so to be “edgy”. Ben is bringing his show to LA and doing a special performance at The Yard Theater on Mon. Feb. 10th at 9PM.

For those not looking forward to Valentine’s Day, this is probably the perfect show. Tickets are only $15 and you can (and should) go get ’em here.
