SUMMARY:Visionary (in LA)
DESCRIPTION:It’s a show where we let sketch teams and solo performers try some shit out! \nSome will be good\, some will be bad but it will all be weird and new and that’s what makes it fun! \nIt’s experimental sketch at its finest! Come on\, you know you need a spanking. \nThis Monday\, we have… \nVISIONARY: Witness a documentary of “visionaries” live on stage\, as Linda Labia risks it all from her living room. A character solo show by Leah Jereb. \nDoes fortune actually favor the bold? \nLinda Labia quit her job. When she decides to watch a documentary about the world’s most forward thinkers\, her life begins to spiral as she makes a desperate move that could ruin everything she’s ever wanted. Rousing\, flirtatiously satirical\, and based on a semi-true story\, VISIONARY explores what it means when the brightest minds aren’t necessarily the best. \nFeaturing dynamic characters that weave in and out of a documentary live on stage\, musical bits\, and an anxious woman in her living room\, VISIONARY is a comedic solo show written and performed by Leah Jereb. \nStarts 4PM PT

She debuts new solo characters every month at Upright Citizens Brigade. McLean hosts improv shows twice monthly with her group Beautiful Gowns. She performs standup and has a weekly open mic. Her theater group\, Being Time\, performs randomly iconic plays\, like an satire of Strindberg’s The Father\, and iconically random plays\, like their take on a Mr. Beast video. She directed Emily Maverick’s solo show Slürt for the 2024 Spaghetti Festival and is debuting a new piece at the same festival in the summer of 2026\, Karaoke Night. She made a short film\, Clown Hoedown\, about the evils of the Los Angeles clown scene. She hosts a play review podcast called Last Hat. She also posts videos to her Instagram account\, @mollmclea. \n••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• \nSimon J.O. Martin (any) is a queer director-playwright based in Los Angeles. Their wicked\, irreverent works have been presented at The Elysian\, 24 Hour Plays\, The Road\, The Larking House\, and New Village Arts. Selected directing credits: Nosferatu’s Sweet 16 with Freak Nature Puppets (The Elysian)\, These Six Sea Sponges…\, The Second Best School Shooting (Indie Production)\, and their play Weirdo\, or (make nice) [The Larking House]. \nShowtimes: \n6/6 @ 7:30PM PT \n6/13 @ 12PM PT \n6/18 @ 5PM PT \n6/21 @ 8:30PM PT \n6/23 @ 10PM PT
