SUMMARY:WE SHOULD START A... Table Read (in LA)
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever been chatting with your bestie/sig oth/therapist/dog/librarian and been convinced that your vibe is so UTTERLY ELECTRIC you simply must start a podcast? \nWell\, for the love of all that is holy\, STOP. Please fight that urge with every fiber of your being. \nChannel that energy into something useful by attending the first everrrrr live reading of WE SHOULD START A-\, a pilot written by Alyssa Burton. Things there will be: LAUGHTER and COMMUNITY. Things there won’t be: MASTURBATORY CELEBRITY “INTERVIEWS” and ADS FOR BETTER HELP AND/OR QUINCE: HIGH QUALITY CASHMERE WITHOUT THE RETAIL MARKUP. \nF*ck. \nI just did an ad for Quince by accident. Do you guys see how podcast culture has become so insidious and why this story needs to be told IMMEDIATELY? Together\, we can stop the rampant spread of podcasting and prevent the demonic spawning of the next Jake Shane. \nAre you with me or what??!! \nTLDR: take out those damn AirPods and come join us at the Lyric on Thursday\, August 6th for the time of your life. More details below XO \n— \nWAIT. WHAT IS THIS PILOT ABOUT EVEN? Omg\, sorry we should have led with that. \nLOGLINE: Every idiot and their best friend thinks they should start a podcast.\nThis is the story of two idiot best friends who absolutely don’t want to start a podcast. \nSPOILER ALERT: They start a podcast. \nWHO IS ALYSSA BURTON ANYWAY? Sooooo glad you asked! \nALYSSA BURTON\, also known as “Hollywood’s Best Kept Secret\,” is a comedy writer based in Los Angeles. Raised on the rough streets of Long Island and hardened by the tragedy of being 15 pounds overweight her entire life\, Burton turned to humor at a young age in an attempt to dull the pain of life’s woes. Her writing\, infused with quick-witted dialogue and an undying tone of snarkiness\, focuses on female protagonists\, multi-generational coming of age stories\, and unfortunately\, the cursed Gen-Z experience. Someone’s gotta do it! \nBurton studied Film and Creative Writing at Northwestern University\, where she penned such culturally important pieces as a short film about a male seahorse getting an abortion\, as well as an autobiographical short story about hooking up with a Colombian rock climber\, which was published in the Oakland Arts Review. \nCurrently\, she works supporting Writer/Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic on their overall deal at Netflix. Above all\, Alyssa would like people to know that she consistently has perfect skin and is considered very young for her grade. \nHOSTED BY: Levi Port (Nothing of note) – @leviport \nAlyssa Burton (WE SHOULD STAR A…) – @alyssaburton_ \nLuke Binkow (Comedy Store) – @luke.binkow \nMolly Brown (Flopcast: Working Title) – @grogufan420 \nSolia Cates (SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS) – @soliaismyname \nJack Greenberg (Business Seminar) – @jackbgreenberg \nSarika Mande (Groundlings Sunday Co.) – @sarikamande \nRyan Micho (American High) – @ryan_micho \nAli Rosenthal (TEEN MARY) – @ali_rosenthal \nCaroline Timoney (Babe Stopppp) – @caroline.timoney \nElliot White (Foster Cat Productions) – @elliotwhite_k \nZoe Zakson (THE COMEBACK) – @zoezakson \nStarts 9:30PM PT

SUMMARY:Dumpster Fire (in LA)
DESCRIPTION:John D. Beck & Ron Hart met Joey Bragg when they cast him in the Disney Channel show they created\, “Liv And Maddie.” After his era of being a Disney Prince\, Joey continued to work as an actor (“Call Your Mother”\, “Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later”) but he focused on his stand up career. Onstage\, Joey speaks openly about the struggles of being a young adult who went to school in a trailer on a movie lot. Beck & Hart thought there was a great story to be told about the often difficult transition from child star to regular adult. “Dumpster Fire” is a speculative screenplay about that story. They will be doing a multi-media staged reading of the bawdy\, edgy script with a troupe of hysterical actors. It is a wild and fun night of comedy. \nStarring: \nJoey Bragg – Liv and Maddie \nJodie Sweetin – Full House\, Fuller House \nJessica Marie Garcia – On My Block \nKensington Tallman – Inside Out 2 \nTiffany Daniels – Sherman’s Showcase \nTommy Hobson – Fresh Beat Band \nShak Ghacha – Better Things \nBrittany Ross – The Middle \nJohn D. Beck – Liv and Maddie \nRon Hart – The Hammock \n*cast subject to change \nStarts 7PM PT

SUMMARY:Showbiz! Book Launch with Murray Hill (in NYC)
DESCRIPTION:One Night Only! Join comedian Murray Hill for an intimate in-conversation event celebrating the release of his debut memoir Showbiz! My Life as a Middle-Aged Man (Simon & Schuster’s Gallery Books). The self-proclaimed “hardest working middle-aged man in show business” sits down for a candid\, unscripted evening of stories\, laughs\, revelations\, and behind-the-curtain moments — sharing the real-life highs\, lows\, and everything in between that shaped his showbiz career. His dear friends and castmates on HBO’s Somebody Somewhere — legendary Bridget Everett and Emmy-winner Jeff Hiller will join the conversation\, adding even more surprises (and laughs) to this one-of-a-kind night. \nMurray is thrilled to have his book launch at SVA Theatre\, his graduate school alma mater. While at SVA\, he created his persona and began performing in NYC in the 1990’s. \nFollowing the conversation\, Murray will take questions from the audience in a live Q&A. And because he’s the hardest working middle-aged man in show business\, he’ll stick around after the event to sign every single person’s book — no rush\, no line left behind. \nStarts 7:30PM ET

SUMMARY:Difficult People: The Movie (A Live Table Read) (in NYC)
DESCRIPTION:Join stars Julie Klausner\, Billy Eichner\, Andrea Martin\, James Urbaniak\, Shakina Nayfack\, Derrick Baskin\, Gabourey Sidibe and others who have not yet checked their email to learn what happened to the Difficult People gang after the series ended. It’s a live table read of what we can assure you is a bonafide comedy caper that delivers on the same pop culture-savvy\, joke-dense\, lovingly obnoxious sensibility as the series —  but then\, as Emeril taught us all to do before he perished tragically in that shark attack (note: fact check this?)  … kicks it up a notch. \nStarts 7PM ET
