The Year My Dad Died Twice (in NYC)

February 3, 2024 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$21.95
  • « (2-3PM Hourly) 10 Min. @ Fourth Wall Comedy Cafe (in LA)
  • (5PM-9PM Hourly Mic) Flashback Mic (near LA) »

On Halloween 2019, Sydney’s father died. On Father’s Day 2020, he died again.

New York comedian Sydney Holmes revisits these two occurrences through song and storytelling. As if dealing with her Texas family, the funeral, nosey neighbours, anal aunts and a constantly crying sibling wasn’t enough, her father left behind a double life and secrets that would rear their ugly head and tear her views on him apart. She explores what it means to truly know your parents, which most of us don’t and arguably shouldn’t.

Sydney sings songs about sex acts, shares stories about Jeff, the eulogist with diarrhea, and reexamines her relationship with her father, his lifelong struggles and finds that death is actually kind of funny.
